The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and the Health and Family Welfare Department have joined hands to intensify efforts in combating the annual increase in dengue cases across the state. In observance of National Dengue Day-2023, a one-day seminar was held at the conference hall of the AMC, organized by the Health and Family Welfare Society of West Tripura District. The seminar aimed to promote the theme of “Harness Partnership to defeat Dengue.”

Deputy Mayor of the AMC, Manika Das Dutta, addressed the gathering and emphasized the commitment of the AMC and the Health Department to raise awareness about dengue and the associated vector-borne disease. Dutta stated, “We will take steps to educate the public about this deadly fever and implement preventive measures by ensuring cleanliness in our surroundings to prevent mosquito breeding.”

Dr. Debashish Das, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of West Tripura, highlighted the significance of National Dengue Day, observed across the country on May 16. The initiative, led by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, aims to increase awareness about dengue and enhance preventive measures and preparedness to control the spread of the disease. Dr. Das mentioned that Tripura, particularly the Dhalai and Gomati districts, witnesses an annual increase in dengue cases.

To combat the rise in dengue cases, Dr. Das announced that awareness programs would be organized across the state, aiming to educate people about the mosquito-borne disease and encourage them to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings. These efforts are crucial in preventing the breeding and spread of mosquitoes, thereby reducing the incidence of dengue.

The collaboration between the Agartala Municipal Corporation and the Health and Family Welfare Department underscores the government’s commitment to address the growing threat of dengue. By fostering partnerships and raising awareness, they aim to tackle the annual surge in dengue cases and protect the health and well-being of the residents of Tripura.

The seminar concluded with a call to action, urging individuals, communities, and organizations to actively participate in efforts to combat dengue by promoting cleanliness, preventing mosquito breeding, and staying vigilant against the disease.
