On Friday, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha spoke at the ‘Chief Minister’s Annual State Awards for Academic Excellence-2022’ programme at Prajna Bhavan. He encouraged students to engage in creative works in addition to their studies. Dr. Saha emphasized that the current state government places high importance on quality education. He noted that the pass percentage in the Tripura Board of Secondary Education-conducted Madhyamik and Higher Secondary exams had significantly increased in the state over the past few years. For example, in the Madhyamik examination, the pass percentage rose from 52.25 percent in 2018 to 91.02 percent in 2022, and Janajati students secured good results. In the Higher Secondary examinations, the pass percentage increased from 70.58 percent in 2018 to 97.45 percent.

The Chief Minister also mentioned that infrastructure development is taking place in the state to provide opportunities for higher studies. He cited examples of the Law College, National Forensic Sciences University, Dental College, Engineering College, and other institutes of higher studies that are now functioning in the state. Dr. Saha stressed the state government’s zero-tolerance policy against drugs and underlined the importance of raising mass awareness against drugs among students. He noted that teachers have a significant role to play in this regard.
