A shocking incident of domestic violence has been reported in Aralia Muslim Para in Agartala, where a 15-year-old housewife named Tanjua Begum was murdered, dismembered, and her body parts were dumped near her residence. The incident bears resemblance to the Shraddha murder case, which was a widely-publicized case of domestic violence in India.
The in-laws of the deceased housewife had initially informed her relatives that she had gone missing. Upon reaching her in-laws’ house, the relatives noticed blood stains and immediately informed the police. The police of East Police Station, led by SDPO Asishs Saha, initiated an investigation. The deceased’s husband, Kayer Mia, tried to mislead the police by stating that Tanuja was murdered and her body was thrown in the river. However, he later confessed that the body was dumped near their residence in Muslimpara.
Based on his statement, the police recovered two bags containing Tanjua’s dismembered body. The bags were found near the residence of the victim’s in-laws. One bag contained her head, while the other bag contained the remaining portion of her body stuffed in another packet. West Tripura District Superintendent of Police, Kiran Kumar Reddy, also reached the spot. The body was sent for post-mortem, and the accused husband, Kayer Mia, was arrested by the police.
This gruesome incident has left the local people in shock. Domestic violence is a severe issue in society, and such incidents highlight the urgent need for strict measures to prevent and punish such crimes. The police have promised to investigate the matter thoroughly and bring the perpetrators to justice.
