Tripura police has made massive security arrangements for the ensuing Durga Puja. According to IG ( Law and Order) Arindam Nath, this year Durga Puja will be celebrated at 2176 places/pandals in the state observing the Covid norms-tThis includes 865 Puja in urban areas and 1,311 in rural areas. In Agartala and surrounding areas, Durga Puja will be celebrated at 554 pandals.
“As in the past, elaborate Police arrangements have been made all over the State to ensure peaceful celebration of the festival. Nearly 7,6600 comprising 4,242 TSR and 3,418 Police personnel will be deployed in the State to maintain law and order and to regulate traffic movement. There will be a total of 157 Police Assistance Booths all over the states including 50 Police Assistance Booths exclusively in Agartala city to render assistance to the people”, said the IG in a Press statement.
As many as 98 Watch tower are being constructed in all important locations including 25 Towers in Agartala. The sensitive and important places with high foot-falls will be kept under CCTV surveillance. Total 78 CCTV will be installed in various locations all over the state excluding the available CCTV, cameras installed in Agartala under Smart City Project. Railway Police Stations have taken special cares for safety and security of the Puja viewers. In addition to the above deployment, total 08 platoons of CRPF have been deployed in 08 Major Police Station areas.
Co-ordination with other security forces has been tied up to strengthen security measure and ensure peaceful celebration of Durga Puja. BSF have been requested to seal the border and intensify the area domination patrolling in the bordering villages. Preventive operations in vulnerable areas have been stepped up by the police and TSR separately.
The press statement said, under the Emergency Response Security System (ERSS) total 88 mobile vehicles will also remain in service 24×7, for which the Toll Free call number is 112. Assistance of NCC will be taken for Traffic control during the day time in course of Puja Period. This apart, 200 Women Police Volunteers in Gomati District and 240 in West Tripura District will also assist police.
Adequate numbers of Plain Clothed Police personnel including Women Police have been deployed in various places to maintain surveillance and to prevent pick pocketing. `No-Entry’ shall be imposed during the puja days from October 12 –October 15 between 06 PM to 12 Midnight in some major roads of Agartala City. However, emergency road for IGM/GBP Hospital will be kept open.
Nath said, already anti-Sabotage checks have been stepped up and the services of Dog squad and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad are being utilized. State Disaster Response Force will be kept ready for attending any exigency. The people are once again requested to abide by the Covid norms and Traffic Rules to make Puja peaceful and enjoyable.
