The Election Commission today directed Chief Electoral Officers of Delhi, Maharashtra, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Telangana and Nagaland to provide one more opportunity to voters who were left out during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
In a statement, the Commission said that voters who were issued enumeration forms but whose names could not be included in the draft electoral roll on account of being marked as Absent, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate will be provided one more opportunity to get their names included in the final electoral roll.
The Commission has directed Chief Electoral Officers of Delhi, Maharashtra, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Telangana and Nagaland to display the lists of such electors afresh and facilitate the submission of their Enumeration Forms. The booth-level officers have also been asked to contact the electors and assist them with the process, including online submission through the ECINET platform. Special provisions have also been made for electors who have shifted residence within the state and homeless persons.
The Commission has also asked to establish a monitoring mechanism to ensure that no eligible elector is deprived of the opportunity in the Final Electoral Roll while preventing duplicate enrolments.
