The All Tripura Merchants Association (ATMA) provided drinking water, chocolates and first-aid facilities at Kaman Chowmuhani in Agartala during Durga Puja, extending support to pandal-hoppers, commuters and residents while promoting public welfare and community service during the festive season.

The All Tripura Merchants Association organised a public welfare initiative at Kaman Chowmuhani, one of Agartala’s busiest junctions, during Durga Puja, providing drinking water, chocolates and first-aid facilities to residents, commuters and visitors.

The initiative aimed to offer relief and assistance to people navigating the city amid the heavy rush during the festive season. With thousands of people visiting Durga Puja pandals, shopping and participating in celebrations, the association arranged essential support to make their journeys more comfortable and convenient.

As part of the programme, members of the association distributed drinking water to people passing through the busy junction and offered chocolates to visitors, adding a gesture of warmth to the festive atmosphere. First-aid facilities were also made available to provide immediate assistance in case of minor medical emergencies.

Association secretary Sujit Roy, along with other members of the organisation, was present during the initiative. They actively participated in distributing drinking water and chocolates among the public while ensuring that basic first-aid assistance remained available for those who needed it.

Kaman Chowmuhani witnesses considerable movement during Durga Puja as residents and visitors travel across Agartala to explore decorated pandals and take part in the celebrations. The additional facilities were intended to help people cope with the busy festive environment and access basic assistance when required.

The initiative also highlighted the role of local business organisations in supporting community welfare during major festivals. While merchants are primarily associated with commercial activities, the association’s effort demonstrated its involvement in providing public assistance beyond its regular business responsibilities.

Durga Puja brings large crowds to Agartala’s streets, markets and prominent junctions, making basic amenities and emergency assistance important for visitors. Access to drinking water can help people stay hydrated while moving between pandals, while the availability of first-aid facilities can provide initial support in the event of minor health issues or injuries.

Through the programme, the All Tripura Merchants Association sought to contribute to a more comfortable festive experience for residents and visitors. The distribution of chocolates also added a friendly touch to the initiative, reflecting the spirit of sharing and togetherness associated with the celebrations.

The participation of Sujit Roy and other association members helped carry out the public service activity at the busy junction. Their efforts focused on assisting people during one of the city’s busiest festive periods.

The initiative conveyed a message of solidarity, cooperation and social responsibility during Durga Puja. Such community-oriented activities can complement broader public arrangements by providing basic assistance at crowded locations, helping people enjoy the celebrations with greater convenience and reassurance.

The association’s programme at Kaman Chowmuhani stood as an example of local community participation in making Durga Puja celebrations more accessible and comfortable for people across Agartala.
