The Congress has appointed 208 observers for its nationwide “Vote Bachao – Desh Bachao” campaign, with approval from party president Mallikarjun Kharge. The observers will coordinate district-level activities, strengthen organisational outreach and support campaign implementation across different states.

The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has appointed 208 party leaders as observers to oversee its nationwide ‘Vote Bachao – Desh Bachao’ campaign across clusters of districts. The appointments were approved by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and took effect immediately, according to an official party announcement issued on October 16.

The announcement was made through a press statement issued by Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K. C. Venugopal. The appointed observers will monitor and coordinate campaign activities in different parts of the country, working alongside state-level party units to ensure implementation at the district level.

The list includes several senior Congress leaders, former ministers, parliamentarians and party functionaries representing different states. Among those appointed are Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, Avinash Pande, Balasaheb Thorat, N. Raghuveera Reddy, Jagdish Thakor, Kamleshwar Patel, Nabam Tuki, K. Suresh, Rajiv Shukla, Akhilesh Prasad Singh, Phulo Devi Netam, Chandrakant Handore, Gurdeep Singh Sappal and Pallam Raju.

Other prominent names on the list include G. Rudra Raju, Yashomati Thakur, Arif Naseem Khan, Sudeep Roy Burman, Amee Yajnik, C. P. Joshi, Prithviraj Chavan, H. K. Patil, R. C. Kuntia, Raghu Sharma, Vivek Bansal, Krishna Tirath, Ajay Kumar Lallu, Nana Patole, Ajoy Kumar and Kuldeep Rathore.

The list also features leaders such as Arun Yadav, Ashok Tanwar, Bharatsinh Solanki, Paresh Dhanani, Kuljit Singh Nagra, Gurjeet Singh Aujla, Saleng Sangma, Mallu Ravi and Rekibuddin Ahmed, among others. The observers have been appointed to supervise campaign activities across designated district clusters, although individual assignments were not specified in the announcement.

The ‘Vote Bachao – Desh Bachao’ campaign, which translates to ‘Save the Vote, Save the Nation’, is part of the Congress party’s nationwide political initiative focusing on electoral issues and concerns regarding voter-list revisions. The party has said it intends to raise awareness about voting rights and address its concerns over the electoral process.

Under the campaign, the newly appointed observers are expected to work closely with state units to coordinate messaging, monitor local activities and strengthen organisational communication. Their responsibilities also include supporting booth-level mobilisation and identifying organisational gaps that may affect campaign implementation.

The appointments come as the Congress seeks to extend the campaign’s reach through coordinated activities at the district and grassroots levels. The deployment of observers from different states is intended to establish closer coordination between the party’s central leadership and its state and district organisations.
