North Tripura District Administration officials and Civil Defence Volunteers planted Alpine Pine saplings at Juri Jail Haat after a cleanliness drive, adding a green dimension to Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 and promoting cleaner public spaces, environmental sustainability and community participation.

The District Administration of North Tripura has added an environmental dimension to the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign by organising a tree plantation drive at Juri Jail Haat. The initiative followed a cleanliness drive conducted at the same premises and highlighted the importance of combining sanitation efforts with the development of greener public spaces.

Led by District Magistrate Chandni Chandran, officials of the District Administration, along with Civil Defence Volunteers, planted Alpine Pine saplings within the premises of Juri Jail Haat. The plantation activity formed part of the broader cleanliness campaign and sought to reinforce the message that maintaining clean surroundings and increasing green cover are complementary aspects of responsible public space management.

The tree plantation drive came after a major cleanliness activity at Juri Jail Haat, providing an additional environmental focus to the Swachhata Hi Seva programme. While the cleanliness drive focused on improving hygiene and the condition of the public premises, the plantation initiative aimed to contribute to the long-term improvement of the surroundings through additional vegetation.

The selection of Alpine Pine saplings was intended to support the development of green cover within the premises. As the saplings grow, they are expected to contribute to the visual improvement of the area while supporting a greener local environment. The initiative also draws attention to the role of vegetation in maintaining ecological balance and improving the overall quality of public spaces.

Speaking about the initiative, District Magistrate Chandni Chandran emphasised the importance of linking cleanliness activities with environmental responsibility. The integration of sanitation drives and tree plantation reflects a broader approach towards sustainable development, where clean public spaces are supported by efforts to maintain and expand greenery.

The participation of Civil Defence Volunteers was another significant aspect of the programme. Their involvement demonstrated the role of community-based participation in supporting government-led cleanliness and environmental initiatives. Volunteers worked alongside district officials during the plantation activity, helping strengthen public engagement with the objectives of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026.

The initiative at Juri Jail Haat also conveyed a message about the long-term responsibility of maintaining public spaces. Cleanliness campaigns can improve the immediate condition of an area, while plantation activities can create lasting environmental benefits when the saplings are properly maintained and protected.

District officials expressed hope that the Alpine Pine saplings planted at Juri Jail Haat would grow into a healthy green cover over time. The growing trees are expected to serve as a lasting reminder of the campaign’s combined focus on cleanliness, greenery and environmental responsibility.

The tree plantation drive therefore extended the scope of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 activities in North Tripura beyond sanitation alone. By bringing together district officials and Civil Defence Volunteers for plantation work following a cleanliness drive, the administration highlighted the connection between hygienic public spaces and sustainable environmental practices.

The activity at Juri Jail Haat further encouraged community participation in maintaining cleaner and greener surroundings. Through such initiatives, the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign continues to promote cleanliness while creating greater awareness about the importance of environmental stewardship and sustainable public spaces.
