Young participants from different states took part in the programme and presented their views on prominent national leaders.

She emphasised the importance of overcoming social divisions and working collectively towards the goal of building a developed India.

Referring to her journey from Tripura to the national capital, Ghosh said that Shastri’s legacy continued to connect people across geographical boundaries. She described herself as a proud daughter of Tripura and stressed the importance of placing national unity and public service above social identities.

“Following in the footsteps of the leader who cast aside his Srivastava lineage to unite a nation, I stand before you simply as Ipshita, without titles or baggage, as a proud daughter of Mother India and a voice of Tripura,” she said.

Ghosh also spoke about the need to overcome divisions based on caste and surnames. She said that a developed India could be built only through collective participation and by breaking down barriers that divide society.

Recalling Shastri’s leadership, she referred to the challenges faced by the country during the period of food scarcity and the 1965 war. She highlighted his famous slogan, “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan,” which recognised the contribution of soldiers and farmers to the nation.

She also cited Shastri’s resignation as railway minister following a train accident as an example of moral responsibility and accountability in public life. According to Ghosh, the incident demonstrated the importance of accepting responsibility while serving the country.

Describing Shastri’s personality, Ghosh said that although the former Prime Minister was short in physical stature, his determination, principles and commitment to the nation were immense. She said his greatness was reflected in his simplicity, humility and dedication to public service.

Ghosh further called upon young people to translate Shastri’s principles into practical action. Drawing a parallel between Shastri’s focus on soldiers and farmers and the activities of MY Bharat volunteers, she highlighted their participation in crisis response, promotion of modern agricultural practices and digital literacy initiatives.

She urged young participants to maintain humility, ethical conduct and determination in both their personal and professional lives. She also described patriotism as a commitment to duty, responsibility and service to society.

“Let us carry Shastri’s humility in our character, his ethics in our work and his firmness in our purpose,” she said.
