TRLM and Tata Trusts are exploring a proposed Rs. 15 crore partnership to strengthen rural livelihoods and infrastructure across three Aspirational Blocks in Tripura, supporting 5,000 households through piggery, duckery, fishery and beneficiary infrastructure development.
The Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) is exploring a proposed partnership with Tata Trusts to strengthen rural livelihoods, income-generating opportunities and beneficiary infrastructure across three Aspirational Blocks of Tripura.
The proposed collaboration is expected to cover Dasda and Damcherra in North Tripura and Ganganagar in Dhalai district, with discussions underway for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between TRLM and Tata Trusts. The partnership is being considered as a five-year programme aimed at supporting rural households through livelihood activities and infrastructure development.
A video conference meeting was held on Wednesday between TRLM CEO Tarit Kanti Chakma and representatives of Tata Trusts to discuss the proposed programme. The meeting focused on the programme’s implementation framework, potential areas of collaboration and the modalities required to take the proposed partnership forward.
According to the proposed programme framework, the initiative is expected to run for five years, from January 2027 to November 2031. Tata Trusts has proposed an outlay of approximately Rs. 15 crore for the programme.
The proposed intervention is expected to provide direct project support to around 3,500 rural households. In addition, approximately 1,500 households are proposed to benefit through convergence with existing interventions of the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission. Together, the programme could cover around 5,000 households through direct support and convergence-based interventions.

The key livelihood sectors identified under the proposed collaboration include piggery, duckery and fishery. These activities are expected to provide rural households with opportunities to develop sustainable income sources while strengthening existing livelihood practices.
Alongside livelihood activities, the proposed programme also places emphasis on beneficiary infrastructure development. Such infrastructure support is intended to help rural households establish and sustain livelihood assets connected with the proposed activities.
The three identified Aspirational Blocks are among the areas targeted under the proposed partnership, with the initiative seeking to strengthen livelihood opportunities at the grassroots level. Through a combination of direct project support and convergence with TRLM programmes, the collaboration is expected to bring together institutional resources and existing rural livelihood interventions.

The discussions between TRLM and Tata Trusts are part of the process of developing the detailed framework for the proposed programme. Officials from both sides are expected to work out the implementation modalities, areas of responsibility and other operational details before the proposed MoU is finalised.
The proposed partnership would bring together TRLM’s experience in rural livelihood promotion with the proposed financial and programme support from Tata Trusts. The focus on livestock, poultry, fisheries and infrastructure is aimed at creating opportunities for rural households to strengthen their livelihood assets and income-generating activities.
