Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha visits Child Care Unit in Agartala under Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, interacts with children and highlights government efforts for their education, welfare, empowerment and self-reliance.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday visited the Child Care Unit at Ujan Abhoynagar in Agartala as part of the statewide ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ and spent time interacting with the children and students residing at the facility. The visit was organised in connection with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday and the observance of Seva Diwas across Tripura.
Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy, Special Secretary of the department Kuntal Das and Director L. Ranchal, among other officials, accompanied the Chief Minister during the programme.
During his interaction with the children and students, Dr. Saha emphasised the state government’s commitment to ensuring their protection, care, education and overall welfare. He said the government’s objective is not only to provide basic support but also to ensure the socio-economic empowerment and self-reliance of children and students residing at the Child Care Unit.
The Chief Minister encouraged the students to focus on their studies while also taking an active interest in extracurricular activities. He specifically urged the concerned officials to encourage participation in activities such as music and yoga, stating that such activities can contribute to the overall development of the children.
Dr. Saha also assured the residents of the Child Care Unit that they should not consider themselves alone and that the state government would continue to stand by them. Stressing the importance of compassion and collective responsibility, he said, “Human beings are there for one another. If this thought remains in society, it will become more beautiful and a better place for everyone to live.”
The Chief Minister further instructed those responsible for managing the facility to treat the children and students with care and affection and to pay close attention to their education, health, well-being and overall development. He stressed that a supportive environment is essential for enabling children to build confidence and become self-reliant in the future.
Speaking about the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, Dr. Saha said the statewide initiative began on Thursday to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s completion of 25 years in public service, including his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat. As part of the campaign, Seva Diwas is being observed at various locations across Tripura.
The programme also highlighted the achievements of students who have previously resided at the Child Care Unit. According to the Chief Minister, several students from the facility have successfully completed professional courses including General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM), Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) and nursing programmes, while others have completed undergraduate courses. Many of them are now employed in different institutions across Tripura and other parts of the country.
The achievements were presented as an example of how education, institutional support and proper guidance can help children overcome challenges and establish independent careers. The Chief Minister encouraged the students currently residing at the facility to pursue their education with determination and work towards securing a bright future.
The children and students also participated in cultural activities during the programme. A cultural presentation was organised at the venue, while the students also demonstrated yoga exercises. The performances added a lively dimension to the event and provided an opportunity for the children to showcase their talents.
Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy also spent time with the children and shared a meal with them in the presence of the Chief Minister. Describing the occasion as a joyful and touching experience, Roy highlighted the importance of sharing love, care and empathy with children.
Roy conveyed his wishes for the children’s bright future, good health and a fulfilling life. His participation underscored the department’s focus on the welfare and development of children living in institutional care.

The visit concluded with Dr. Saha distributing gifts among the children and students. He wished them success in their studies, careers and personal lives.
The programme underlined the state government’s stated focus on child welfare, education, skill development and self-reliance, while the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ sought to promote a spirit of service and social responsibility across Tripura.
