Tripura CM Manik Saha led the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan in Agartala with a major blood donation camp, urging citizens to support voluntary donation. He also appealed for calm over TET demands, assuring candidates that the government is closely monitoring recruitment concerns.
Tripura joined the nationwide observance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday with the launch of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, a month‑long campaign of social and service‑oriented programmes.
At the state level, a major blood donation camp was organised on Thursday at Pragna Bhavan, Agartala, drawing participation from citizens, officials, and dignitaries.
Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha visited the camp, interacted with donors, and underscored the importance of voluntary blood donation.
“There is no substitute for blood. Every healthy citizen should come forward regularly to donate, as it can save lives in times of crisis,” he said. Around 200 donors were expected to participate in the camp, which was attended by Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, senior officials of the Health Department, and other notable figures.
On the sidelines of the event, Dr. Saha addressed ongoing demands related to recruitment and the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET). He appealed to candidates to refrain from agitation, assuring that the government was closely monitoring the matter.
“I have already instructed my department regarding TET. They should stay away from such agitations; there is no need for them. Our government has been keeping a close watch, and they will get what is due to them,” he said.
The Chief Minister highlighted that 21,000–22,000 jobs had been created during the present government’s tenure, with teachers forming the largest share. He added that recruitment had to be balanced with obligations towards existing employees and pensioners, including payment of Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR).
He acknowledged financial constraints but stressed that the state, heavily reliant on the Centre, was continuing to meet its commitments. Outsourcing and contractual employment were also being used as part of the framework.
Dr. Saha noted that September 17 was being observed as Seva Diwas, marking Prime Minister Modi’s 25 years of public service. Programmes were being organised across districts, subdivisions, blocks, and panchayats.

At the state level, the blood donation camp was complemented by other initiatives, including health awareness drives, social outreach programmes, and distribution of Ashirbad Cards at designated locations in the evening. Diyas were also lit to mark the occasion.
The Chief Minister said that, subject to the Model Code of Conduct, mega‑events under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan would continue between September 18 and October 17.

He appealed to the people of Tripura to extend their blessings and good wishes to the Prime Minister, emphasizing that the campaign’s purpose was to unite society in service and solidarity.
