Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has issued strict directives to state officials to identify and act immediately against unlicensed spa centres operating across the state. Chairing an exhaustive review meeting of the Task Monitoring System (TMS) at the Secretariat, Dr. Saha made it clear that commercial establishments operating outside statutory frameworks and without mandatory municipal or police approvals will not be tolerated.
The Chief Minister urged the state administration to abandon reactive habits, instructing civil and police officers to adopt a proactive, sensitive, and accountable governance model. Addressing senior administrators, he underlined that departmental heads must identify civic issues independently rather than waiting for public grievances or investigative media reports to prompt administrative action.
Streamlining Governance via the Task Monitoring Portal
The review session commenced with a comprehensive presentation by Secretary to the Chief Minister and Secretary for Information & Cultural Affairs, Kiran Gitte. The illustrated briefing detailed the operational architecture of the TMS portal, specifically its capabilities in aggregating, tracking, and resolving citizen concerns broadcast across social channels and electronic news media.
Dr. Saha noted that public administration must be held to strict benchmarks of speed and efficiency. He stressed that administrative personnel must receive citizen complaints with courtesy and ensure timely, transparent redressal. District Magistrates (DMs), serving as the administrative heads of their jurisdictions, were instructed to routinely inspect field realities, maintain inter-departmental synergy, and eliminate bureaucratic bottlenecks that stall welfare delivery.
Decisive Action on Urban Congestion and Infrastructure
Addressing urban civic disruptions, Dr. Saha turned his attention to chronic traffic bottlenecks, particularly the illegal parking crisis plaguing the bustling Golbazar commercial district. He instructed the Superintendent of Police (Traffic) to execute immediate on-the-spot field inspections and institute systematic vehicular regulations to restore pedestrian mobility and trade flow.
On state infrastructure, the maintenance of strategic Bailey bridges was placed under formal evaluation. The Chief Minister directed engineering divisions to promptly conduct structural safety audits statewide. Bridges exhibiting wear or load fatigue must receive immediate structural retrofitting to guarantee uninterrupted, safe transit routes for regional commuters and freight corridors.
Emergency Healthcare, Wildlife Mitigation, and Youth Welfare
Evaluating public health infrastructure, Dr. Saha mandated that all state-run trauma centres maintain peak operational readiness round-the-clock to manage severe accident trauma and medical emergencies without logistical delay. Concurrently, health officials were directed to expand grassroots screening campaigns for non-communicable diseases and maintain stringent preventative surveillance against vector-borne illnesses, notably malaria in vulnerable interior belts.
Addressing ecological disruptions, Dr. Saha raised serious concerns regarding escalating human-elephant conflicts in populated rural corridors. He instructed the Forest Department to deploy expert technical interventions, reinforce mitigation barriers, and formulate sustainable, localized measures to safeguard human habitations while preventing animal mortality.
Turning to education and youth development, the Chief Minister instructed education officials to continuously audit the functional efficiency of digital smart classrooms across government schools, making periodic impact assessments mandatory. Furthermore, he emphasized that procedural delays or clerical hurdles must never derail state athletes. Sports departments were strictly ordered to streamline clearance mechanisms, ensuring budding talent receives timely clearances, financial backing, and institutional support.
