Farmers across Kalyanpur Agricultural Sub-Division are hopeful of a bumper Aman paddy harvest as favourable monsoon rainfall supports healthy crop growth, while cultivators seek timely agricultural guidance, quality inputs, pest control measures and fair market prices to secure better returns.
Farmers across the Kalyanpur Agricultural Sub-Division are looking forward to a promising Aman paddy harvest this season, with favourable weather conditions and timely monsoon rainfall helping crops develop across large stretches of farmland. The lush green fields have raised hopes among cultivators that the season could bring a bumper yield if the weather remains supportive until harvesting.
Fields in several villages, including Ghilatli, Madhya Kalyanpur, Dwarikapur, Gopalnagar, Ratia and Shantinagar, are currently showing healthy growth. Farmers have been working from early morning until evening to maintain their crops and protect them from possible threats. While some cultivators are busy removing weeds, others are applying fertilizers and taking preventive measures against pests and diseases.
According to farmers, the timely arrival of rainfall has provided sufficient moisture to the soil and helped Aman paddy plants grow stronger. Many fields are now covered with vibrant green crops, giving cultivators confidence about the possibility of a good harvest. However, farmers remain cautious as the crop is still vulnerable to changing weather conditions and agricultural threats.
Mahendra Debnath and Rajib Pal, farmers from Ghilatli, said their paddy crops are developing well due to the favourable weather. They expressed hope that the expected harvest would meet their household food requirements and leave enough surplus grain for sale in the market.
For farming families, Aman paddy remains an important source of both food and income. A successful harvest can provide financial relief and help households manage expenses. At the same time, farmers pointed out that a good crop alone does not guarantee better earnings, as rising cultivation costs and uncertain market prices continue to affect their income.
Cultivators have also called for regular monitoring and guidance from the agriculture department during the remaining stages of cultivation. They said timely technical advice could help farmers respond quickly if pest attacks, crop diseases or other problems emerge. Quick intervention during an outbreak, they believe, could prevent extensive crop damage and reduce financial losses.
Another major concern among farmers is the timely availability of agricultural inputs. They stressed the importance of ensuring adequate supplies of fertilizers, quality seeds and other necessary materials during the cultivation season. Any delay in obtaining essential inputs could affect crop development and reduce productivity, particularly for small and marginal farmers.
Market prices are another issue drawing attention as the harvest approaches. Farmers said increasing costs of labour, fertilizers, cultivation and other agricultural activities have made farming more expensive. Therefore, even a bumper production may not provide sufficient financial benefits if farmers are forced to sell their produce at low prices.
They urged the administration and concerned departments to pay attention not only to production but also to the marketing of agricultural produce. According to cultivators, ensuring fair returns would encourage farmers to continue investing in agriculture and could strengthen the rural economy.
For now, farmers in Kalyanpur are keeping a close watch on the weather as the Aman crop moves towards maturity. They are hoping for balanced rainfall and protection from storms, excessive rain, drought and pest attacks until the grain is ready for harvesting.
