Choreographer Ganesh Acharya praises Anil Kapoor’s energetic first qawwali performance in India Ke Top 1%, saying the song complements his jhakaas style. The duo’s collaboration on Baat Khatki Toh Jeet Pakki has gained attention for its vibrant energy and cultural appeal.

Choreographer Ganesh Acharya has praised actor Anil Kapoor for his energetic performance in the qawwali “Baat Khatki Toh Jeet Pakki” from the upcoming reality show India Ke Top 1%. The collaboration marks the first time Ganesh has worked with Anil Kapoor, and the choreographer said they created a performance that perfectly complemented the actor’s trademark “jhakaas” style.

Ganesh, who directed and choreographed the qawwali, expressed happiness over the positive response to the song, which has been receiving attention and going viral. According to the choreographer, the track is deeply rooted in Indian culture and features a catchy hook designed to stay with audiences.

“It is wonderful to see the song receiving so much love and going viral. Baat Khatki Toh Jeet Pakki is culturally rooted and has a hook that stays with you,” Ganesh said.

The choreographer revealed that he immediately visualised the energy and celebratory atmosphere of the song when he first heard it. The music inspired him to imagine a vibrant on-screen sequence that could capture the spirit of the qawwali while bringing Anil Kapoor’s distinctive personality into the performance.

“The moment I heard it, I could visualise the energy and celebration we could create on screen,” Ganesh said.

Ganesh also shared that he had wanted to collaborate with Anil Kapoor for a long time. The opportunity finally came through Star Plus for India Ke Top 1%, allowing the choreographer and actor to work together on a special musical performance.

“I had wanted to work with Anil sir for a long time, and I’m glad Star Plus brought us together for India Ke Top 1 percent,” Ganesh said.

He further pointed out that the qawwali was particularly significant because it marked Anil Kapoor’s first performance in the genre. Rather than changing the actor’s established screen persona, the creative team focused on developing a performance that enhanced his natural energy and iconic style.

“Since this was his first Qawwali performance, we created something that complemented his jhakaas style. His infectious energy elevated our vision and turned the song into a celebration,” Ganesh added.

The qawwali is part of India Ke Top 1%, the Indian adaptation of the internationally acclaimed format The 1% Club. The show is designed around a different approach to the traditional quiz format, focusing less on general knowledge and more on observation, logic, presence of mind and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Anil Kapoor had earlier spoken about the concept of the reality show, highlighting how each challenge is designed to test the way participants think. He said the format offers viewers an opportunity to participate from home, making it suitable for audiences across age groups and turning television viewing into a family activity.

The actor had also announced that India Ke Top 1% would premiere on September 5. The format has previously been adapted in several countries, including the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Greece, Australia, Israel, Turkey, Ukraine, Mexico and the United States.

With its focus on logical thinking rather than conventional knowledge-based questions, the show aims to offer a fresh take on the quiz and reality-show genres. The addition of Ganesh Acharya’s qawwali and Anil Kapoor’s performance adds a musical and celebratory element to the programme.

India Ke Top 1% airs on Star Plus and is also available on JioHotstar.
