The government has reiterated its commitment to reimagining skills, saying it is taking all measures to skill youth and prepare them for future growth with a vision to achieve Viksit Bharat by the year 2047. NITI Aayog released a report titled Reimagining Skilling for Viksit Bharat@2047 which provides a blueprint for a skilling architecture.

NITI Aayog said that in certain sections, the figure of 8.7 crore NEET youth has been misinterpreted as unemployed. It said that the category of NEET in the report refers to those not seeking employment and therefore, it cannot be read as a measure of joblessness or as an addition to the unemployment rate. NITI Aayog stressed that the Report has clearly said that the database utilised in computation of these figures is based on National Sample Survey, NSS 78th Round which was collected during the COVID-19 pandemic.
