Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur’s 118th birth anniversary was observed in Agartala, with Minister Bikash Debbarma highlighting the late ruler’s vision for a progressive Tripura and showcasing tribal welfare initiatives, student awards, Super 100, Smart Class, and Clean Hostel Green Hostel programmes.

The 118th birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur was observed today with due solemnity and enthusiasm at Pragna Bhavan, Agartala. The programme was organised by the Tribal Welfare Department, Government of Tripura. Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma graced the event as the chief guest. Tribal Welfare Department Secretary Dr. K. Shashi Kumar and Director Subhashis Das were also present. The programme began with floral tributes to the portrait of Maharaja Bir Bikram.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Debbarma recalled the Maharaja’s vision and contributions to Tripura. He said that Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya dreamt of developing a beautiful and progressive Tripura. Towards this direction the state government is making every effort.

The minister highlighted several initiatives of the Tribal Welfare Department, including the ‘SUPER 100’ scheme for talented tribal students. A booklet outlining various tribal welfare schemes and programmes was also released on this occasion.

Meritorious tribal students from government ST boys’ and girls’ hostels were felicitated for their performance in the Madhyamik examination. Awards were also given to high-performing tribal students from Classes VI to XII at the state level. Notebooks and other educational materials were distributed to hostel students under the ‘Smart Class’ initiative.

Awards were presented to the best-performing boys’ and girls’ hostels under the ‘Clean Hostel Green Hostel’ (CHGH) programme, which promotes cleanliness and greenery in hostels. A quiz competition on the life and contributions of Maharaja Bir Bikram was also organised.
