Originally scheduled for August 14, the romantic family entertainer has received a U/A certificate. The much-awaited romantic entertainer ‘Hi’, starring Nayanthara and Kavin in the lead, is set to arrive in theatres worldwide on August 28. Directed by Vishnu Edavan, the film was originally scheduled for release on August 14 but the makers have now announced a revised theatrical release date.
Seven Screen Studios, one of the production houses behind the project, announced the new release date through its social media platforms on Friday. The production house urged audiences to mark August 28 on their calendars as the film prepares to bring its heartwarming and fun-filled story to theatres.
The announcement has added to the anticipation surrounding ‘Hi’, particularly because the film marks the first collaboration between popular actors Nayanthara and Kavin. The project has already generated considerable interest among moviegoers due to its promising lead pair, family-oriented storyline and strong technical crew.
For the unaware, ‘Hi’ was initially slated to release on August 14. However, the makers subsequently decided to postpone the theatrical release to August 28. The film has already cleared the Censor Board with a U/A certificate, paving the way for its worldwide theatrical release.
The film is jointly produced by Zee Studios South, The Rowdy Pictures and Seven Screen Studios. Alongside Nayanthara and Kavin, the cast includes several established performers such as K Bhagyaraj, Prabhu, Radhika, Sathyan, Adithya Kathir and Kureishi.
According to sources close to the film’s unit, the story unfolds across three cities — Chennai, Coimbatore and Pollachi. The film is expected to offer audiences a wholesome family entertainer built around themes of relationships and true love. Interestingly, the makers have indicated that the narrative will not feature conventional villains.
‘Hi’ also marks the directorial debut of Vishnu Edavan. Before stepping into the director’s chair, Vishnu Edavan worked as an associate director with acclaimed filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj on several notable projects, including ‘Kaithi’, ‘Master’ and ‘Vikram’. His experience working on these films has further raised curiosity about his approach to his first directorial venture.
Vishnu Edavan had earlier described ‘Hi’ as a wholesome family entertainer that would explore the idea of true love. With its romantic premise and family-friendly treatment, the film is expected to appeal to audiences across different age groups.
The technical department of ‘Hi’ also features several experienced names. Jen Martin has composed the music, while Rajesh Shukla has handled cinematography. Philomin Raj is responsible for editing, with Shekhar B serving as the art director. The film’s dance sequences have been choreographed by Brinda, while Dinesh Kasi has choreographed the stunt sequences.
