Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha directed all administrative levels to strengthen coordination, intensify anti-drug operations, enhance policing, improve public services, monitor schools and tourism, and ensure effective governance to achieve the vision of a drug-free and crime-free Tripura.
There is no room for leniency in the fight against drugs and crime. To build a drug-free Tripura, every level of the administration must work in a more coordinated, strict, and effective manner. If necessary, a special task force should be formed to conduct operations against drugs and criminal activities. Police surveillance and patrolling should be intensified, particularly in areas surrounding schools and colleges as well as other crime-prone locations. Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha made these remarks today while addressing the Task Monitoring System meeting held via video conference from Conference Hall No. 2 of the State Secretariat.
The Chief Minister said that the police and administration must work together to protect society from the menace of drug abuse. He directed officials to identify crime-prone areas and strengthen regular police patrolling. In this context, he emphasized the need for round-the-clock CCTV surveillance and additional police deployment in the GBP Hospital area to keep it free from criminal activities.
Highlighting the importance of maintaining a clean environment for the development of the tourism industry, the Chief Minister noted that Tripura’s tourism potential has received national recognition. Therefore, all tourist destinations in the state, including Chhabimura, Unakoti, Dumboor, and Neermahal, must always be kept clean and attractive. He instructed the concerned departments and district administrations to conduct regular field inspections and ensure effective monitoring.
The Chief Minister also directed District Magistrates to make comprehensive preparations for the successful implementation of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, scheduled from 9 to 17 August, as well as various programmes commemorating the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram.” He informed that the main state-level event would be held at Ujjayanta Palace on 11 August and called for active participation from people across all sections of society to make the national programme a success.
Speaking about the education sector, the Chief Minister said that the government has taken significant initiatives to improve government schools. Along with enhancing the quality of education, the overall school environment—including cleanliness, updated notice boards, infrastructure, and teaching standards—must be regularly monitored. He instructed District Magistrates to intensify school inspections and stated that any negligence in carrying out official responsibilities would not be tolerated. Addressing officials at all levels, he urged them to interact with the public politely and work with patience and understanding.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister also reviewed the current status of the state’s roads, electricity supply, and drinking water services. He stressed the need for close coordination among various departments to resolve issues promptly. He further sought updates on district hospitals, social welfare department-run homes, hostels, child vaccination programmes, the public distribution system, Anganwadi centres, and veterinary health centres. Referring to the Jal Jeevan Mission, he stated that approximately 85–86% of the work has already been completed and directed officials to finish the remaining work as quickly as possible. He particularly emphasized adopting innovative and practical measures to address water scarcity in districts such as Khowai. He also reviewed the progress made towards operationalising Kailashahar Airport, seeking detailed information from the concerned officials.

Emphasizing the need for a more citizen-centric administration, the Chief Minister said that public services must be delivered with sensitivity, courtesy, and respect. He instructed District Magistrates to maintain overall supervision of district administration and ensure effective coordination among all departments. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Chief Minister praised the efforts of the District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police and urged them to continue working with greater dedication, sincerity, and responsibility for the welfare of the people.

At the beginning of the meeting, Kiran Gitte, Secretary to the Chief Minister and Secretary of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, gave a detailed presentation outlining the overall functioning of the Task Monitoring System. He subsequently conducted the proceedings of the meeting. The meeting was also attended by the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, Directors, and other senior government officials. In addition, District Magistrates, district police officials, and other concerned officers from all eight districts of the state participated virtually.
