Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha launched a minority loan distribution programme, disbursing Rs. 64.93 lakh to 28 beneficiaries and announced a Rs. 322 crore development proposal to strengthen education, entrepreneurship, women’s empowerment and socio-economic development for minority communities across the state.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha today said people of every religion are equal partners in Tripura’s development and stressed that unity in diversity remains the state’s greatest strength. Addressing a loan distribution programme for minority beneficiaries at Pragna Bhavan, he said the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” continues to guide the government’s development initiatives.

The programme, organised by Tripura Minorities Cooperative Development Corporation Limited, saw the Chief Minister distributing loan cheques for higher education and business to beneficiaries from minority communities. A total of 28 beneficiaries received loans worth Rs. 64.93 lakh.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to minority welfare, Chief Minister Dr. Saha said, both the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the state are working to improve education, healthcare, financial self-reliance, women’s empowerment and security among minority communities. He said transparency and good governance are essential to earning public trust and ensuring inclusive development. He said the government is trying to bring about practical and holistic transformation of the minorities. Towards this objective socio-economic security has been established in our country. Because, an educated daughter is equivalent to a strong family. The government is committed to ensure all-round security for women.

The Chief Minister also announced that the state government has submitted a proposal worth Rs 322 crore to the Centre for approval of projects aimed at accelerating the socio-economic development of minority communities in Tripura. He said government assistance and loans can transform the lives of beneficiaries by promoting self-reliance and creating confidence within society.

Minority Welfare Minister Shuklacharan Noatia said the government has expanded financial support for minorities through various Central and state schemes. He informed that minority students are now eligible for loans of up to Rs. 1 lakh for higher education and have also benefited under the Chief Minister’s Minority Development Scheme. He added that proposals for 55 additional schemes have been sent to the Centre to further improve the living standards of minority communities.

During the programme, Haj pilgrims from Tripura felicitated the Chief Minister, and a documentary on the Haj pilgrimage was screened. Tripura Minorities Cooperative Development Corporation Chairman Mohammad Jasim Uddin, Tripura Waqf Board Chairman Mabasar Ali, Tripura State Haj Committee Chairman Shah Alam and former minister Billal Mia attended the event as special guests. Special Secretary of the Minority Welfare Department Nirmal Adhikari delivered the welcome address, while GM of the Minorities Cooperative Development Corporation Sourav Alhasan proposed the vote of thanks.
