Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s ‘Maa Inti Bangaram’ creates history as the first female-led Telugu film to gross Rs 100 crore worldwide. The action family entertainer, directed by Nandini Reddy, marks a major milestone for Telugu cinema and Samantha’s production venture.
Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has added another remarkable milestone to her career as her latest film, Maa Inti Bangaram, has reportedly become the first female-led Telugu film to gross more than Rs 100 crore worldwide. The achievement was announced by the film’s production house, Tralala Moving Pictures, on Sunday, marking a historic moment for Telugu cinema and female-led commercial films.
Sharing the milestone on its official Instagram handle, Tralala Moving Pictures celebrated the success with an enthusiastic post that read: “GOLDEN CENTURY FOR #MaaIntiBangaaram. #MiB creates HISTORY by becoming THE FIRST EVER FEMALE LED TELUGU FILM to gross 100 CRORES Worldwide.” The announcement has been widely welcomed by fans and members of the film industry, who praised the film’s impressive box office performance.
Released in theatres on June 19, Maa Inti Bangaram is an action family comedy drama directed by acclaimed filmmaker Nandini Reddy and created by Raj Nidimoru. The film features Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead role and has been appreciated for blending emotional storytelling with realistic action sequences.
One of the film’s biggest talking points has been Samantha’s commitment to performing her own action scenes. Ahead of the film’s release, the actress had spoken candidly about the physical challenges she faced while shooting the action sequences. She revealed that she endured several real blows during filming and even suffered injuries while executing the demanding stunt scenes herself.
Speaking at the film’s pre-release event in Chennai, Samantha explained that the action sequences were intentionally designed to look authentic rather than exaggerated.
“If you see in the film, there are no slow motion sequences, no flying shots, no build-up shots. It’s extremely realistic. It’s real punches. I too have suffered blows. I’ve bled. They are extremely realistic action sequences. I did all the action sequences myself. That is why everybody likes the action and it looks like I did it,” she had said.
The actress had earlier described Maa Inti Bangaram as one of the most meaningful projects of her career, both as an actor and as a producer. In January this year, Samantha had shared that the film tells the story of a woman whose strength is shaped equally by her courage and vulnerability.
“Maa Inti Bangaram tells the story of a woman whose strength comes as much from her vulnerability as from her courage. Playing this character and nurturing this film as a producer has been an incredibly fulfilling journey for me,” she had said.
Besides Samantha, the film boasts a strong ensemble cast that includes Diganth and Gulshan Devaiah in significant roles. Supporting performances by Sree Mukhi, Gautami, Anand, Lakshmi, Srinivas Gavireddy, and Manjusha have also contributed to the film’s widespread appreciation.
The reported Rs 100 crore worldwide gross represents a landmark achievement not only for Samantha Ruth Prabhu but also for Telugu cinema, highlighting the growing commercial success of female-led films. Industry observers believe the film’s performance could encourage more women-centric stories with mainstream appeal and larger production backing.
