Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha reviewed the state’s flood preparedness during a high-level monsoon meeting, stressing coordinated disaster management, early warning systems, proactive planning, and rapid emergency response to safeguard lives, property, and vulnerable areas across the state.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday conducted a comprehensive review of the state’s flood preparedness and disaster management strategy at the War Room of the Tripura Institution for Transformation (TIFT), directing officials to remain fully prepared for any emergency arising from the ongoing monsoon season.
The high-level review meeting focused on assessing the state’s readiness to tackle potential flooding, waterlogging, and other monsoon-related disasters, particularly in vulnerable regions, including areas under the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC). Senior officials from various departments participated in the meeting and presented updates on preparedness measures, response mechanisms, and contingency plans.

During the review, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of proactive planning, strong inter-departmental coordination, and a swift emergency response system to effectively manage any flood-related situation while minimizing its impact on people and infrastructure.
Dr. Saha said the government remains committed to protecting the lives and property of citizens by ensuring timely action and maintaining the highest level of disaster preparedness throughout the monsoon period.
Reviewing the state’s disaster management strategy, the Chief Minister directed all concerned departments and agencies to remain on constant alert and work in close coordination to respond effectively to any emergency. He stressed that a well-coordinated approach among government departments, local authorities, disaster response teams, and civic agencies would be essential in tackling any adverse weather conditions.
Officials also discussed precautionary measures to address waterlogging in urban areas, improve drainage management, strengthen rescue operations, and ensure the availability of relief materials and emergency services. The meeting reviewed the status of vulnerable locations across the state and assessed the preparedness of district administrations to respond quickly in case of heavy rainfall or flooding.

Highlighting the significance of early warning systems, Dr. Saha instructed officials to ensure timely dissemination of weather alerts and emergency information so that residents in vulnerable areas can take necessary precautions well in advance. He underlined that effective communication and rapid response are key to reducing risks during natural disasters.
The Chief Minister also stressed the need for continuous monitoring of rainfall patterns, river water levels, and flood-prone zones throughout the monsoon season. He directed departments to maintain adequate stocks of essential supplies, ensure the readiness of rescue personnel and equipment, and strengthen coordination with local administrations to provide immediate assistance whenever required.
Sharing details of the meeting, Dr. Saha stated that the government had reviewed the state’s flood preparedness and disaster management strategy in view of the ongoing monsoon. He reiterated the importance of proactive planning, inter-departmental coordination, and swift response mechanisms to effectively manage emergencies and minimize their impact.
