Tripura hosted the Northeast Growth Lab Roadshow in Agartala to strengthen its startup ecosystem through innovation, mentorship, and investment opportunities. Organised by the Directorate of IT with IIMA Ventures and SAP, the initiative empowers entrepreneurs and promotes sustainable startup growth across Northeast India.
The Directorate of Information Technology (DIT), Government of Tripura, in collaboration with IIMA Ventures and SAP, successfully organised the Northeast Growth Lab (NEGL) Roadshow and Value Proposition Workshop at the Smart Training Centre, IT Bhavan, Agartala. The initiative marked another milestone in Tripura’s commitment to fostering innovation-driven entrepreneurship and creating new opportunities for startups across the state.
The programme brought together aspiring entrepreneurs, startup founders, government officials, and industry experts for an intensive workshop designed to equip participants with practical business development skills while connecting them to national-level mentorship and investment opportunities.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Jeya Ragul Geshan B, IFS, Director of Information Technology, who highlighted the importance of innovation in driving sustainable economic development. He emphasized that the state government remains committed to creating an enabling environment where startups can thrive and contribute to Tripura’s economic transformation.
Delivering the keynote address, Kiran Gitte, IAS, Secretary, Information Technology, reaffirmed the government’s vision of positioning Tripura as an emerging hub for innovation and entrepreneurship in Northeast India. He stated that empowering young entrepreneurs through mentorship, technological support, and access to business networks would play a crucial role in generating employment and fostering inclusive economic growth.
The technical sessions were conducted by programme managers from IIMA Ventures, including Abhimanyu Saxena, Shilpa Jain, and Gayatri Baruah. They introduced participants to the Northeast Growth Lab initiative, explaining its objectives, eligibility requirements, application process, and selection criteria. The experts also guided entrepreneurs through the fundamentals of developing a compelling value proposition, an essential component for attracting investors and scaling businesses.
One of the key highlights of the workshop was the interactive value proposition exercise, where startup founders prepared business worksheets and presented their ideas before experts. Participants received constructive feedback and practical suggestions to refine their business models, strengthen market positioning, and improve customer engagement strategies.
Adding inspiration to the event, a successful entrepreneur from Tripura shared her entrepreneurial journey, discussing both the challenges and opportunities involved in building a business in the region. Her experience encouraged aspiring founders to embrace innovation, remain resilient during setbacks, and continuously adapt to changing market conditions.
The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from local startups, reflecting the growing entrepreneurial spirit across Tripura. Officials noted that the event provided participants with practical knowledge, networking opportunities, and valuable exposure to national startup support systems.
The Northeast Growth Lab initiative is expected to create new avenues for investment, collaboration, mentorship, and capacity building by connecting Tripura’s startups with experienced mentors, investors, and industry leaders.
