PM Modi completed 12 years in office, becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister. Addressing the NDA Conclave at Bharat Mandapam, Modi highlighted governance achievements, poverty reduction, economic reforms, political stability, and the vision of Viksit Bharat while praising the NDA’s politics of performance and development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday completed 12 years in office and marked a historic milestone by becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister. Addressing the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Conclave at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Modi highlighted the achievements of his government and praised the NDA’s model of governance, which he described as the “politics of performance” focused on development, stability, and public welfare.

Speaking before NDA leaders and allies, the Prime Minister said the aspirations of 140 crore Indians would certainly be fulfilled because the NDA government has consistently worked to strengthen the trust reposed in it by the people. He noted that the confidence shown by citizens in 2014, after years of dissatisfaction with previous governments, has grown into a renewed sense of faith in the nation’s future.

Modi recalled that when the NDA came to power in 2014, he had spoken of a “new dawn of hope” for ordinary citizens. According to him, the alliance has remained committed to honouring that trust through governance focused on results and accountability.

“The people of the country have seen for the first time that when a government functions with the right intentions, development can take place at a rapid pace,” he said. He pointed to various welfare and development initiatives undertaken during the last 12 years, asserting that the government’s policies have delivered tangible benefits to millions of citizens.

One of the key achievements highlighted by the Prime Minister was the lifting of more than 25 crore people out of poverty during the NDA’s tenure. He described this as evidence that the government’s policies and direction are yielding positive outcomes. Modi stressed that economic progress and social welfare have gone hand in hand under his administration.

The Prime Minister also underlined the importance of political stability, stating that citizens now understand the value of a stable government at the national level. He noted that the decades before 2014 were often marked by political uncertainty and instability, which hindered the country’s growth and development.

According to Modi, the people have witnessed the effectiveness of a government capable of taking decisive decisions and implementing policies without delay. He said the repeated electoral mandates received by the NDA reflected the maturity of India’s voters and their confidence in stable leadership.

A significant portion of Modi’s address focused on the vision of “Viksit Bharat” or a developed India. He said the dream of transforming India into a developed nation is no longer limited to a political party or a government but has become a national aspiration shared by every citizen.

“Every Indian is filled with the dream of a Viksit Bharat. This dream belongs to the entire nation, and every moment must be dedicated to achieving it,” he said.

The Prime Minister further stated that the government’s reforms have been driven by ideological conviction rather than political compulsion. He cited major policy initiatives including tax reforms, digital transformation, ease of doing business measures, infrastructure expansion, and efforts to strengthen India’s position as one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.

Government representatives at the conclave also highlighted achievements across multiple sectors over the past 12 years. These included improvements in digital governance, infrastructure development, welfare schemes, financial inclusion, and efforts to modernise public services.

Wednesday’s milestone was particularly significant because Modi surpassed the record of Jawaharlal Nehru’s 4,398 days in office as an elected Prime Minister following India’s first general elections in 1952. Nehru had served as Prime Minister from 1947, but his tenure before the 1952 elections was as head of the interim government.

Reflecting on his journey, Modi said that public service remained at the heart of his leadership philosophy. “For me, people represent God,” he remarked during his address, reiterating his commitment to serving citizens.

The Prime Minister also launched a political attack on the Congress, accusing previous governments of failing to meet public expectations. He claimed that one of the major successes of the NDA government had been freeing the country from what he described as the Congress party’s “vicious trap” of ineffective governance and policy paralysis.

Modi maintained that the NDA’s governance model has focused on performance rather than political rhetoric. He said the alliance’s commitment to development and public welfare had helped strengthen the bond of trust between the government and the people.

The occasion was marked by celebrations across the country. BJP leaders and workers organised special events, including prayers and public gatherings, to commemorate Modi’s achievement. At the national level, members of the Union Cabinet reportedly gave the Prime Minister a standing ovation, while congratulatory messages poured in from world leaders and political figures.

As he completed 12 years at the helm, Modi projected confidence about India’s future and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to achieving the goal of a developed nation. He concluded by urging citizens and NDA workers alike to continue contributing toward nation-building and ensuring that the aspirations of every Indian are fulfilled through collective effort and determination.
