Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha inaugurated a two-storey, 60-bed Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital in Udaipur, Gomati district, reaffirming the government’s commitment to healthcare development, traditional medicine, Ayurvedic education and improved access to treatment across the state.
The state government is working with healthcare as one of its top priorities, Chief
Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha said while inaugurating a two-storey, 60-bed
Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital at Chandrapur in Udaipur today. The
Chief Minister said the state government is committed to preserving and promoting the
rich knowledge and heritage of Ayurveda so that future generations can benefit from
it. He said that Ayurveda has an important role not only in traditional medicine but also
in the modern healthcare system.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on integrating traditional medical practices with modern healthcare, the Chief Minister said the Ministry of AYUSH was making special efforts to preserve India’s ancient systems of medicine. He also highlighted the potential benefits of Ayurvedic treatment and described Ayurveda as an integral part of the country’s civilisation and culture. He said the inauguration of the hospital marked an important step towards strengthening Tripura’s healthcare infrastructure. The institution would expand access to Ayurvedic treatment and create new opportunities for students
aspiring to pursue Ayurvedic education and build careers in the medical profession.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government was committed to improving
healthcare services without compromise. Since assuming office, the government had
taken several initiatives to strengthen the health sector, making it possible to treat
many complex diseases within the state. He added that referrals to hospitals outside
Tripura had declined significantly as local treatment facilities improved.
He also pointed out that the number of medical colleges and the number of seats
available to students from Tripura had increased.
As a result, students no longer needed to travel outside the state as frequently to pursue medical education. The Chief Minister said the government was working to ensure that people could access not only allopathic treatment but also homoeopathic and Ayurvedic healthcare. The establishment of homoeopathic and Ayurvedic medical colleges was part of this initiative.
Addressing the gathering, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy urged local residents
to protect and support the college. He said the people of Tripura would benefit when
students graduating from the institution entered the medical profession. He added that
the state government was working towards development across all sectors, including
education and healthcare.
