An 85-year-old pension beneficiary from Satchand Dano Chowdhury Para in Sabroom has alleged that his government pension has remained unpaid for the last three to four months. Facing financial hardship, he appealed to authorities for immediate intervention, while local residents demanded a probe into delays affecting elderly beneficiaries.
An 85-year-old resident of Satchand Dano Chowdhury Para under the Satchand area of Sabroom subdivision has alleged that he has not received his government pension for the last three to four months, raising concerns over delays in welfare payments meant for elderly beneficiaries.
The elderly resident, identified as Joy Kumar Tripura, claimed that despite making repeated visits to various government offices and bringing the matter to the attention of concerned officials, the issue remains unresolved. According to him, the prolonged delay has caused significant hardship, as the pension serves as his primary source of income and financial support.
Speaking about his difficulties, Joy Kumar Tripura said that he has been struggling to manage daily expenses due to the non-receipt of the pension. He alleged that while newly approved beneficiaries continue to receive their pension payments regularly every month, several long-time beneficiaries have reportedly been left without payments for months.
The allegation has sparked concern among local residents, many of whom expressed sympathy for the elderly pensioner. Residents stated that welfare schemes are intended to support vulnerable sections of society, particularly senior citizens who depend on such assistance for their livelihood and basic needs.
Locals further alleged that delays in pension disbursement can severely affect elderly beneficiaries, especially those with limited or no alternative sources of income. They urged the administration to thoroughly investigate the matter and identify the reasons behind the reported stoppage of pension payments.
Joy Kumar Tripura has appealed to the concerned authorities to intervene immediately and ensure that his pending pension dues are released without further delay. He also requested officials to take necessary measures so that other elderly beneficiaries do not face similar difficulties in the future.
