Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) signed an MoU with SeSTA to support 20,000 SHG women through sustainable agriculture and livelihood initiatives, while also advancing plans to modernise Tripura’s pig farming industry with global expertise and scientific farming practices.

Rural livelihood development initiatives in Tripura received a fresh boost after the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) signed a non-financial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SeSTA to support 20,000 women associated with Self-Help Groups (SHGs) across the state.

The agreement was signed between TRLM and SeSTA – Seven Sisters Development Assistance for a period of three years with the objective of promoting sustainable agriculture-based livelihood opportunities for rural women. Officials described the partnership as an important move towards strengthening economic independence and self-reliance among women living in rural communities.

According to TRLM, the collaborative initiative will focus on enhancing sustainable agricultural practices, improving livelihood generation and creating long-term economic opportunities for SHG members in different parts of Tripura. The programme is expected to directly benefit nearly 20,000 women by providing technical guidance, community support and improved livelihood strategies.

In a social media statement, TRLM said that the partnership would pave the way for economic empowerment through sustainable farming activities and community-driven livelihood development. Officials stated that the collaboration is aimed at ensuring inclusive growth while encouraging environmentally sustainable agricultural practices at the grassroots level.

Meanwhile, TRLM also conducted a high-level review meeting to finalise the draft Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the proposed project titled “Modernising the Pig Industry in the State of Tripura.” The meeting was chaired by Tarit Kanti Chakma, Chief Executive Officer of TRLM, in the presence of senior representatives from Cooperl Arc Atlantique India, the Additional CEO of TRLM and other senior officials.

During the discussion, emphasis was placed on developing a practical framework for technology transfer, scientific livestock management and sustainable pig farming methods. Officials also highlighted the importance of introducing modern industry standards to improve productivity and profitability for pig farmers across rural clusters in Tripura.

According to TRLM officials, the proposed collaboration with Cooperl Arc Atlantique India is expected to bring international expertise into Tripura’s livestock sector, helping local farmers adopt advanced and scientific farming practices. Authorities believe the initiative could significantly strengthen the state’s livestock-based rural economy while creating better income opportunities for farming communities.
