Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said 4.95 lakh rural women linked with 55,569 Self-Help Groups are strengthening the state’s rural economy through financial empowerment, entrepreneurship, and livelihood initiatives under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission and Samriddhi Campaign 2.0.

Women associated with Self-Help Groups under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission are playing a major role in strengthening the rural economic foundation of the state, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said while addressing the “Samriddhi Campaign 2.0” programme held at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister highlighted the growing contribution of rural women toward economic development, financial independence, and social transformation in Tripura. He stated that the government has been implementing several initiatives to promote women’s self-reliance and entrepreneurship under the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to Dr. Saha, nearly 4.95 lakh rural women in the state are currently connected with 55,569 Self-Help Groups (SHGs). He said the increasing participation of women in income-generating activities has significantly strengthened the socio-economic condition of rural families and contributed to positive social changes across the state.

The Chief Minister remarked that women have emerged as one of the strongest pillars of society due to their resilience, determination, and leadership abilities. He added that their active involvement in livelihood activities is not only improving household incomes but also strengthening the overall rural economy of Tripura.

Dr. Saha also noted that Tripura presently ranks second in Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) growth among northeastern states. He credited a substantial part of this achievement to the contribution of rural women associated with Self-Help Groups and various livelihood missions operating in the state.

Highlighting the achievements of the “Samriddhi Campaign,” the Chief Minister said the first phase of the programme had achieved remarkable success through collective efforts. Encouraged by the positive response, the government launched “Samriddhi Campaign 2.0” with expanded targets for loan distribution and entrepreneurship development.

Under the second phase of the campaign, the state government had initially set a target of distributing loans worth Rs 150 crore to women Self-Help Groups and individual entrepreneurs. However, the campaign surpassed expectations, with more than Rs 269 crore disbursed among SHGs and over Rs 20.58 crore distributed for individual entrepreneurial ventures.

Dr. Saha stated that the success of the programme reflects the dedication of rural women and the coordinated efforts of government departments, financial institutions, and livelihood missions. He further informed that women Self-Help Groups in Tripura have received bank loans amounting to nearly Rs 2,389 crore so far.

To strengthen these groups further, the government has also extended assistance worth Rs 837 crore through different support funds and welfare initiatives. The Chief Minister added that schemes involving Bank Sakhis, Insurance Sakhis, agriculture workers, and livestock support teams have created a strong rural livelihood ecosystem in the state.

He also announced that more than 13,000 micro-enterprises would be developed across different blocks of Tripura to encourage entrepreneurship and employment generation. An allocation of Rs 38 crore has been earmarked for the initiative.
