Rupee depreciates by 18 paise to close at 96.53 against US dollar 

 In the forex market today, the rupee depreciated by 18 paise to close at record low of 96 rupees and 53 paise against the US dollar. The dollar index, which indicates US dollar’s strength against a basket of six other leading currencies, was trading at 99.25 in intra-day trade.
