Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu called for stronger military-civil coordination to transform Tripura into a model security state through advanced surveillance, AI-driven defence systems, border protection, and coordinated governance involving security forces, civil administration, and technological institutions.

Indra Sena Reddy Nallu on Thursday asserted that Tripura is steadily moving towards becoming a model security state where military institutions, paramilitary forces, police agencies, intelligence units, and civil administration function in close coordination while maintaining mutual respect for each other’s responsibilities.

The Governor made the remarks while addressing a seminar on “Military-Civil Fusion” held at the Alpha Auditorium of the Headquarters of Assam Rifles 21 Sector in Agartala on Thursday morning.

Addressing officers, government officials, students, and representatives from different sectors, Governor Nallu described Tripura as a state of immense beauty, resilience, and strategic importance. However, he pointed out that the state also faces a challenging and complex security environment that demands much more than routine coordination among agencies.

Highlighting the strategic concerns arising from Tripura’s long and porous international border, the Governor noted that several border regions provide natural cover for smuggling networks, insurgent activities, and illegal cross-border movement. He stressed that ensuring the safety and security of citizens requires seamless cooperation among military forces, paramilitary units, state police, intelligence agencies, and civilian institutions.

According to the Governor, modern security challenges can no longer be addressed in isolation. He emphasized that coordinated governance and integrated operational mechanisms are essential for maintaining peace and stability in sensitive border regions like Tripura.

Speaking on India’s rising global defence stature, Governor Nallu said many countries now look towards India for military cooperation, strategic consultation, and technological partnerships. He observed that India has earned international trust through its consistent demonstration of capability, restraint, and strategic resolve even under challenging geopolitical conditions.

The Governor further highlighted India’s rapidly advancing defence and technological ecosystem. Referring to institutions such as the Defence Research and Development Organisation, defence public sector undertakings, private industries, and premier academic institutions including the Indian Institutes of Technology, he said the country is increasingly building an integrated innovation network to strengthen national security preparedness.

Focusing on the future of warfare, Governor Nallu warned that modern conflicts would not rely solely on conventional weapons systems. Instead, artificial intelligence, drones, cyber capabilities, sensors, and network-centric warfare would dominate future battlefields. He said Tripura must prepare itself for emerging threats through the development of stronger strategic infrastructure, enhanced surveillance systems, AI-enabled radar integration, modern emergency response mechanisms, and improved technical proficiency among security personnel.

“Let us commit ourselves to building a Tripura that is not only peaceful, but also prepared. Peace is not merely the absence of war; peace is the presence of strength,” the Governor said during his address.

Governor Nallu also stated that the seminar had been organized to commemorate the first anniversary of “Operation Sindoor,” which he described as a symbol of precision, coordination, and strategic effectiveness. According to him, the operation demonstrated that success in modern military engagements depends not only on firepower but equally on intelligence sharing, technological readiness, and institutional coordination.

He urged all stakeholders to work collectively towards establishing a governance structure where security agencies and civil administration operate as a unified force. Describing military-civil fusion as an essential component of coordinated governance in complex security environments, the Governor praised the Assam Rifles for organizing the seminar and bringing together multiple agencies on a common platform.

During the seminar, Anurag delivered a presentation on “Law and Order Situation, Hybrid and Emerging Threats,” where he explained how the state police administration is actively coordinating with various security agencies to maintain peace and strengthen internal security mechanisms across Tripura.

Aloke Kumar Chakraborty also addressed the gathering and presented insights on “Border Security and Cross-Border Dynamics.” He highlighted the crucial role played by the Border Security Force in protecting international border regions in Tripura and other strategically sensitive parts of the country.

Meanwhile, D K Singh spoke on “Civil-Military Fusion during Conventional Operations,” focusing on operational coordination between armed forces and civil institutions during emergencies and strategic situations.

Abhishek Singh discussed government initiatives and policies related to civil-military coordination, while Nishan Chandel elaborated on “Civil-Military Fusion: Case Studies, Capabilities and the Way Forward.” He also highlighted the contribution of the Assam Rifles in strengthening coordinated security frameworks in the region.
