International Design Day is being celebrated today globally. This day commemorates the founding of the International Council of Design on the 27th of April, 1963. Until 2020, this event was celebrated as World Design Day. Today is an opportunity to recognise the value of design and its capacity to effect change. The theme for this year is “the spaces in between”. The International Council of Design has challenged designers to reflect deeply on the well-being of people within their local environments and to find innovative solutions to local needs by using design as a vehicle to honour diversity and transcend borders.
