Swapna Debbarma joins Ananta in reconciling with Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarman after TTAADC victory, easing internal rifts while uncertainty looms over Animesh Debbarma’s political future amid shifting party dynamics in Tripura politics.

Reconciliation efforts within the Tipra Motha Party appear to be gaining momentum as internal dissent that once threatened to fracture the party begins to subside. In a significant political development, MLA Swapna Debbarma has extended an olive branch to party supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarman, signaling a possible end to weeks of internal discord.

The move follows a similar reconciliation by Ananta Debbarma, who had earlier broken ranks with Tipra Motha to contest the recently concluded Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council elections on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket. His return marked the first major sign of the dissident camp softening its stance toward the party leadership.

Swapna Debbarma, who had also reportedly been in talks with the BJP amid speculation of a potential defection, met Debbarman in Shillong on Thursday. The meeting, which included her family, was shared publicly by the Tipra Motha chief through a video message emphasizing unity and reconciliation. “Let us forget what has happened and work together,” Debbarman said, underlining his intent to consolidate the party.

The developments come in the aftermath of Tipra Motha’s emphatic victory in the TTAADC elections, which appears to have significantly altered the internal political dynamics. Prior to the results, there had been widespread speculation of a possible split within the party, with several leaders reportedly exploring alternatives. However, the decisive electoral mandate seems to have strengthened Debbarman’s position and reduced the likelihood of any immediate internal breakdown.

Despite the ongoing reconciliation process, one key figure remains conspicuously absent. Minister Animesh Debbarma, who was seen as a central figure in the dissenting group, has yet to publicly reconcile with the party leadership. Notably, he was absent from the party’s election campaign, raising questions about his future within Tipra Motha.

Party insiders suggest that attempts by certain factions to weaken Tipra Motha not only failed but may have had the opposite effect. “Those efforts proved counterproductive, as voters rallied strongly behind the party,” a source said, indicating that the perceived instability may have actually consolidated public support.

There are also indications that Animesh Debbarma’s political standing within the party may be diminishing. Leaders such as Brishaketu Debbarma and Ranjit Debbarma, who remained loyal to the party leadership during the crisis, are believed to have gained prominence, potentially sidelining dissenting voices.

Sources within the party further suggest that Animesh Debbarma could face pressure to resign from his ministerial position if he fails to reconcile with the leadership. “From all aspects, his political future appears uncertain,” a senior leader remarked on condition of anonymity.

As reconciliation efforts continue, Tipra Motha appears focused on maintaining unity and capitalizing on its recent electoral success. Whether the remaining differences can be resolved will likely determine the party’s trajectory in the coming months.
