Tension erupts during TJEE 2026 at Bodhjung Boys’ School in Agartala as candidates are denied entry despite arriving on time, sparking protests, emotional scenes, and debate over strict exam rules and student welfare.
Tension briefly disrupted the otherwise orderly conduct of the Tripura Joint Entrance Examination 2026 on Wednesday at Bodhjung Boys’ Higher Secondary School, where several candidates were reportedly denied entry despite claiming to have arrived on time. The incident triggered distress among students and sparked a short-lived protest by parents outside the examination centre.
According to eyewitness accounts, nearly 8 to 10 aspirants were stopped from entering the premises, leading to confusion and emotional scenes. Some students were seen breaking down in tears, fearing the loss of a crucial academic opportunity, while anxious parents questioned the management of the entry process. Many candidates insisted they had reached the venue within the stipulated schedule but were unable to gain access due to procedural delays or strict enforcement at the gate.
Authorities at the centre, however, defended their actions, citing adherence to examination protocols. Officials stated that once the reporting deadline had passed, no candidate could be allowed entry under any circumstances, in line with standard rules governing competitive examinations. They maintained that all candidates had been instructed in advance to report well before the cut-off time to avoid such situations.
Shubhadip Pal, Chairman of the examination board, acknowledged the incident during his routine inspection of centres across the state. He clarified that while the overall conduct of the examination remained peaceful and systematic, a small number of candidates were denied entry due to late arrival. Emphasizing the importance of discipline, he reiterated that rules must be uniformly applied to ensure fairness and transparency.
Despite the brief unrest, local authorities quickly intervened to restore order, and the examination proceeded without further disruption. Officials confirmed that security arrangements remained tight across all centres, with strict monitoring to ensure compliance with guidelines.
