Heavy security arrangements have been deployed across Tripura ahead of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council elections. With 24 CAPF companies, state police, and TSR forces in action, authorities aim to ensure peaceful, free, and fair polling across all constituencies.

Heavy security arrangements have been put in place across Tripura ahead of the upcoming elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), as authorities intensify preparations to ensure peaceful polling across all 28 constituencies.

With campaigning set to conclude on Friday evening, the state administration has activated an extensive security framework combining state police, Tripura State Rifles personnel, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) deployed from across the country. The objective is to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents during the electoral process.

According to the Director General of Police, Anurag, a total of 24 companies of CAPF have been sanctioned by the central government to reinforce the existing security apparatus. These forces will work in coordination with local police units to secure sensitive and highly vulnerable polling stations identified through a detailed security assessment.

Out of the 24 CAPF companies, 12 are from the Border Security Force, 10 are from the Sashastra Seema Bal, and 2 are from the Central Reserve Police Force. Officials confirmed that four companies have already reached Tripura, while the remaining 20 units are expected to arrive shortly before polling day.

These security reinforcements will be strategically deployed across all constituencies based on vulnerability mapping. Authorities have categorised polling stations into different risk levels, ensuring that sensitive and critical locations receive higher security coverage. This approach aims to minimize risks and ensure smooth conduct of voting.

Voting for the TTAADC elections is scheduled to take place on April 12, with counting of votes set for April 17. The elections are expected to be closely contested, with a multi-cornered political battle involving major parties including the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Communist Party of India (Marxist), the Indian National Congress, and the Tipra Motha. The Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura is also fielding candidates in several constituencies, adding further intensity to the electoral contest.

In the run-up to polling, all major political parties have conducted extensive campaigning activities, including mass rallies, bike processions, and door-to-door outreach programs. These efforts have significantly heightened political engagement across tribal and rural areas, with parties attempting to consolidate their voter bases ahead of the crucial election.

Despite the high political temperature, election authorities have repeatedly emphasized their commitment to conducting free, fair, and peaceful elections. Senior officials have stated that strict monitoring mechanisms will be in place, and any attempt to disrupt the electoral process will be dealt with firmly.

Security agencies are also maintaining round-the-clock surveillance in sensitive areas, along with increased patrolling and checkpoints across strategic routes. Coordination between central and state forces has been strengthened to ensure rapid response in case of emergencies.

As polling day approaches, the combined presence of CAPF units, state police, and paramilitary forces reflects the seriousness with which authorities are treating the electoral exercise. The focus remains firmly on ensuring that voters can exercise their democratic rights without fear or disturbance.
