Tripura intensifies TTAADC election preparations with EVM training for 400+ polling staff in Unakoti, ensuring smooth, error-free voting across 28 constituencies. Authorities focus on transparency, efficiency, and strong electoral management ahead of April 12 polls.
As the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections approach, the administration in Tripura has stepped up its preparations with a strong focus on training polling personnel to ensure a smooth and error-free voting process. The elections are scheduled to be held on April 12 across 28 constituencies, making it a crucial democratic exercise in the state’s tribal regions.
In Unakoti district, officials have conducted large-scale training sessions for polling staff, particularly in the Kumarghat subdivision. According to administrative sources, around 408 polling personnel underwent comprehensive, hands-on training in handling Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). The sessions were held simultaneously across four venues, including Geetanjali Hall and the Panchayat Raj Training Centre, ensuring maximum participation and efficiency.
The training programme included presiding officers as well as first, second, and third polling officers, all of whom play critical roles during the voting process. Officials emphasized that the structured training modules were designed to familiarize personnel with every aspect of EVM operations, from setup to troubleshooting.
Returning Officer and Sub-Divisional Magistrate N.S. Chakma highlighted the systematic nature of the initiative, stating that the objective was to build confidence and technical competence among polling staff. District-level master trainers and technical engineers were also involved in the sessions, providing detailed demonstrations on the functioning and maintenance of the machines.
The elections will cover key constituencies such as Machmara (No. 2) and Karamchhara (No. 4) under the Kumarghat subdivision, both of which are expected to witness significant voter participation. Officials confirmed that the EVMs to be used in the polls have been procured from Maharashtra, ensuring availability of reliable and tested equipment.
Authorities described the ongoing training drives as a vital step toward conducting free, fair, and transparent elections. By equipping polling personnel with practical knowledge and technical expertise, the administration aims to minimize errors and prevent disruptions on polling day.
Preparations for the TTAADC elections are now in their final stages, with phased training programmes being carried out across multiple districts. Officials reiterated that all necessary arrangements, including logistics, security, and voter facilitation measures, are being put in place.
