Cameroon national detained at Agartala Railway Station for illegal entry via Bangladesh. Police intensify probe into possible links with unlawful activities as the accused faces multiple charges under BNS and Immigration laws.
In a security development, a Cameroon national was detained by police from the Agartala Railway Station area in Tripura on Thursday. The individual, identified as Austin Ayuk Etta, was apprehended by the Amtali police during a routine surveillance operation.
According to Officer-in-Charge Paritosh Das of Amtali Police Station, the foreign national had allegedly entered India illegally through Bangladesh and was preparing to board a train from Agartala when he was intercepted. His suspicious movements reportedly alerted security personnel, leading to his detention.
During questioning, the accused failed to produce any valid travel or identification documents. This prompted authorities to take him into custody for further investigation. Police officials confirmed that the detainee will be produced before a local court on Friday, with a request for a five-day police remand to facilitate detailed interrogation.
Authorities have registered a case against him under Section 61(ii)(a) and 143(ii) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 21 and 23 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act. These charges relate to illegal entry, unauthorized stay, and potential violations of national security protocols.
Police sources indicated that further interrogation is underway to determine whether the individual has any links to organized illegal activities or cross-border networks. Officials are also coordinating with central agencies to verify his background and travel history.
