Alleged exam irregularity at Sabroom Higher Secondary School sparks outrage as student receives wrong Mathematics paper during Madhyamik Examination, raising concerns over negligence, academic loss risk, and demands for urgent investigation and accountability.

A serious controversy has erupted at Sabroom Higher Secondary School in South Tripura, where allegations of examination irregularities have raised concerns about the academic future of a girl student. The incident, which reportedly occurred during the ongoing Madhyamik Examination, has triggered outrage among parents and local residents.

According to sources, Riya Mog, a student of Dolbari High School, had been appearing for her board examinations at the Sabroom centre without any issues for her first four papers. However, a major discrepancy allegedly took place during the Mathematics examination, which could significantly impact her final results.

Reports suggest that instead of being provided with the standard Mathematics question paper applicable to her category, the student was mistakenly handed a basic-level paper. The error reportedly went unnoticed for most of the examination duration and was only identified by the invigilating teacher approximately 15 minutes before the end of the exam.

In a shocking turn of events, it is alleged that once the mistake was detected, the invigilator collected both the incorrect question paper and the partially completed answer script from the student. This action effectively prevented Riya from completing her examination properly, leaving her distressed and uncertain about her performance.

Education sources indicate that such a lapse could lead to severe consequences, including the possibility of the student being awarded zero marks in the subject due to procedural complications. The incident has raised serious questions about the competence and preparedness of examination authorities at the centre.

Further allegations have been levelled against Centre Supervisor Pranab Das and Sutapa Pal, a graduate teacher from PM Shri Balika Vidyalaya in Sabroom, accusing them of negligence and dereliction of duty. Critics argue that stricter supervision and adherence to protocol could have prevented the error.

Adding to the controversy, parents and local residents have accused the school administration of attempting to suppress the issue after it came to light. The alleged involvement of the headmaster in downplaying the incident has intensified public anger and calls for accountability.

Concerned guardians have demanded an immediate and impartial investigation into the matter, along with corrective measures to ensure that the student does not suffer due to administrative lapses. Education activists have also urged the relevant board authorities to intervene and safeguard the student’s academic interests.

As the controversy unfolds, the incident highlights the critical importance of vigilance, transparency, and accountability in conducting public examinations. For students like Riya Mog, whose academic futures depend on fair evaluation, even a minor lapse can have life-altering consequences.
