A 19-year-old Tripura biotechnology student was allegedly held captive and brutally tortured by her live-in partner in Gurgaon’s Sector 69. Police rescued her after a distress call, arrested the accused, and launched a multi-section criminal investigation.

A horrifying case of alleged captivity and extreme violence has surfaced from Sector 69 in Gurgaon, where a 19-year-old biotechnology student from Tripura was reportedly held hostage and tortured for three days by her live-in partner. The accused, also 19, was arrested on February 19 following a swift police operation that rescued the victim from a paying guest accommodation.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered at Badshahpur Police Station, the incident began on February 16 shortly after the couple moved into a rented PG room in Sector 69. The accommodation had reportedly been leased in the name of the accused.

The victim, a second-year student at a private university in Gurgaon, alleged that she was subjected to repeated physical and sexual abuse during her confinement. In her statement to the police, she claimed she was beaten mercilessly, attacked with a knife, and assaulted multiple times over the course of three days. She further alleged that the accused poured sanitizer on her private parts and set them on fire repeatedly each day, causing severe injuries.

The brutality came to light on February 18 when the victim managed to place a desperate phone call to her mother in Tripura. Recounting the chilling conversation, her mother said her daughter told her, “I don’t have time, I will be killed.” Alarmed by the urgency and fear in her voice, the family immediately contacted local authorities in Gurgaon.

Responding promptly, police personnel reached the PG accommodation in Sector 69 and rescued the young woman. She was immediately rushed to a local civil hospital for emergency treatment before being referred to Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi for advanced medical care. Doctors confirmed that she had sustained multiple injuries consistent with assault and burns. Hospital authorities stated that her condition is currently stable, though she remains under close medical supervision.

In her complaint, the victim also alleged that the accused filmed the assaults and raped her under the false promise of marriage. She claimed that their relationship began in September 2025 after they connected through an online app. What initially appeared to be a consensual relationship gradually turned violent and controlling, according to her statement. Over time, she alleged, the accused isolated her from friends and family, culminating in the alleged three-day ordeal.

Police spokesperson ASI Sandeep Turan confirmed the arrest of the accused and stated that a detailed investigation is underway. “The girl was rescued and hospitalised. Her condition is stable. Police are in continuous contact with the doctors and her family. The strictest punishment under the law will be sought against the accused,” he said.

The case has been registered under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including wrongful confinement, criminal intimidation, rape on the false promise of marriage, and causing grievous hurt by dangerous means. Authorities have indicated that digital evidence, including the alleged videos, is being examined as part of the investigation.

Law enforcement officials have assured that the matter will be fast-tracked and closely monitored to ensure swift justice. The incident has sparked outrage both in Gurgaon and in Tripura, with calls for stringent punishment and stronger safeguards for students living away from home.
