Eco-Friendly Craftsmanship Wins Hearts
Sunali SHG drew large crowds with its eco-friendly handcrafted products made from water hyacinth, locally known as kochuri pana. The group displayed an impressive range of designer bags, utility items, and decorative handicrafts crafted with sustainable materials. Visitors praised the fine finishing, durability, and creative designs of the products.
Buyers from multiple states appreciated the group’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. The use of water hyacinth, often considered a waste product, was transformed into stylish and market-ready goods, demonstrating how rural innovation can align with global eco-conscious trends.
Many visitors expressed admiration for the skill and patience reflected in each handcrafted piece. The stall became a vibrant symbol of how traditional craftsmanship can compete successfully on a national platform when supported by structured rural livelihood initiatives.
Indigenous Flavors Become Star Attraction
While Sunali SHG impressed with sustainable artistry, Mandira SHG (Sanjog Canteen) became a culinary sensation at the Food Court. Their Tripura Special Thali and traditional Bangui Chicken quickly gained popularity among food lovers attending the fair.

The Bangui Chicken, known for its rich indigenous spices and homely preparation, stood out for its unique flavor profile. Visitors praised the authenticity of the dishes, describing them as both delicious and distinctive.
One visitor, Sanjoy Kumar, lauded the cuisine for its “delicious taste and uniqueness,” noting that it offered a refreshing change from mainstream food options. The overwhelming response highlighted the growing curiosity among people across India for authentic northeastern cuisine.
