Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announces Vande Bharat Express launch, ₹1,300 crore infrastructure projects, and four-lane Agartala–Udaipur road upgrade. Massive transport boost, healthcare expansion, and investment prospects signal rapid development and economic transformation across the state.

Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday announced a major push to infrastructure and connectivity in the state, revealing that the Vande Bharat Express will soon begin operations in Tripura. The announcement came as he virtually laid the foundation stones for three development projects in Udaipur, signaling what he described as a “new era of comprehensive growth” under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the Central and State Governments are working in close coordination to ensure that welfare schemes and development benefits reach the last person in society. He emphasized that infrastructure expansion, administrative reforms, and social sector investments are being carried out simultaneously to ensure balanced growth across the state.

₹1,300 Crore Development Projects Underway

Dr. Saha stated that projects worth approximately ₹1,300 crore are currently underway across Tripura. These initiatives, he said, are designed not only to strengthen physical infrastructure but also to promote environmental protection, planned urbanization, and sustainable economic growth.

Among the key announcements was the much-anticipated launch of the Vande Bharat Express in the state. The semi-high-speed train service is expected to significantly enhance regional connectivity, reduce travel time, and provide modern travel facilities to passengers. The introduction of the train marks a major milestone in Tripura’s transport modernization efforts.

Four-Lane Upgrade for Agartala–Udaipur Road

In another major development, the Chief Minister announced that work will soon begin to upgrade the Agartala–Udaipur road into a four-lane highway. The expansion is expected to ease traffic congestion, boost trade and commerce, and strengthen connectivity between key urban centers.

Dr. Saha highlighted that the state currently has around 923 kilometers of national highways, a substantial increase from the earlier 198 kilometers. He described this expansion as a testament to the government’s commitment to infrastructure transformation.

Focus on Equal Development Across the State

The Chief Minister stressed that the government’s vision goes beyond the development of Agartala alone. “Our goal is equal and inclusive development of the entire state,” he said, adding that rural and semi-urban regions are being brought into the mainstream development process.

He also announced plans to establish an Ayurvedic hospital in Tepania, Udaipur, aimed at strengthening traditional healthcare services. In the education sector, he revealed that 450 students are currently pursuing MBBS courses and 63 are enrolled in BDS programs in the state. Initiatives are also underway to establish a dedicated health university to further enhance medical education and research.

Administrative Reforms and Literacy Milestone

Dr. Saha noted that a paperless administrative system has been introduced from the Secretariat down to the Panchayat level, improving transparency and efficiency. He further announced that after Goa and Mizoram, Tripura has achieved the status of a fully literate state.

The state has also received 347 awards at national and regional levels, reflecting progress in governance and public service delivery.

Vision 2047 and Investment Prospects

Expressing optimism about India’s long-term growth, Dr. Saha said he believes the country will reach the peak of development by 2047. He called upon citizens to actively participate in nation-building efforts.

The Chief Minister also projected potential investments of around ₹15,000 crore in the coming years, signaling strong economic prospects for the state.
