In a moment of pride for Tripura, science educator Anjan Banik has been invited as the state’s sole representative to the prestigious India AI Impact Summit 2026, the country’s first world-class artificial intelligence conference. The landmark event, organized by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) and the IndiaAI Mission, will take place at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from February 16 to 20, 2026.
The summit will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is expected to host heads of state, cabinet ministers, global CEOs, policymakers, researchers, and leading figures from technology giants such as Google, OpenAI, Meta, Nvidia, and Microsoft.
Anjan Banik’s selection as Tripura’s only delegate underscores his significant contributions to science education and innovation. He previously received the National Award for Science and Technology Communication (2022–23), recognizing his dedication to promoting scientific awareness at the grassroots level. In 2025–26, he was also appointed as a National Mentor under the Ministry of Education’s National Mission for Mentoring, a role that highlights his commitment to guiding educators and fostering academic excellence across the country.
The India AI Impact Summit 2026 is expected to draw more than 35,000 delegates from over 100 countries, making it one of the largest global gatherings focused on artificial intelligence. The conference will emphasize responsible, inclusive, and research-driven AI development, exploring its transformative potential across sectors such as education, healthcare, governance, climate science, and industry.
For Tripura, Banik’s participation represents a powerful acknowledgment of the state’s growing footprint in science and technology. His presence at such a high-profile international platform not only brings recognition to his individual achievements but also places Tripura firmly on the map of global AI dialogue.
