Tripura Gramin Bank (TGB) has marked a historic milestone in its Golden Jubilee year by launching its first-ever Co-Branded RuPay Credit Card in partnership with its sponsor bank, Punjab National Bank (PNB). The initiative signals a transformative step toward strengthening digital banking access and credit inclusion across Tripura.
With this launch, TGB has become the first Regional Rural Bank (RRB) sponsored by PNB—and notably the first RRB in India—to introduce a Co-Branded RuPay Credit Card. Banking experts view this achievement as a major breakthrough in the evolution of India’s rural banking framework, highlighting the expanding role of RRBs in delivering advanced financial products.
The card was formally launched under the leadership of Satyendra Singh, Chairman of Tripura Gramin Bank, whose strategic focus on digital empowerment and inclusive finance has driven the bank’s modernization agenda. Bank officials stated that the initiative reflects a strong commitment to customer-centric innovation, especially for rural and semi-urban populations traditionally underserved by credit card facilities.
The PNB–TGB Co-Branded RuPay Credit Card aims to provide customers with secure, convenient, and affordable access to modern credit services. Powered by the RuPay network, the card ensures enhanced transaction security, wide domestic acceptance, and seamless integration with India’s growing digital payment ecosystem. Officials noted that the product will help customers meet everyday financial needs while encouraging greater participation in the formal digital economy.
The launch ceremony witnessed the presence of several prominent dignitaries, including Rakhi Biswas, Director (Small Savings, Group Insurance & Institutional Finance), Government of Tripura; Deepak Kumar, General Manager, Public Relations and Credit Card Division, PNB Head Office; Taufique Alam, Managing Director and CEO, PNB Cards & Services Ltd.; Diganta Kumar Das, Deputy General Manager, NABARD Tripura Regional Office; and Rituraj Krishna, Deputy General Manager and Circle Head, PNB Circle Office, Agartala.
Senior executives of Tripura Gramin Bank, branch and regional officials, marketing teams, representatives from Punjab National Bank and PNB Cards & Services Ltd., as well as members of the media, were also present at the event. Bank officials emphasized that the initiative further strengthens the long-standing partnership between TGB and PNB, built on trust, innovation, and shared developmental goals.
