Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha praises Union Budget 2026, highlighting last mile delivery, inclusive growth, infrastructure development, Buddhist tourism circuit, AI integration, youth empowerment, MSME support, and economic growth for North Eastern states and India’s future development roadmap.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Sunday welcomed the Union Budget 2026, describing it as a welfare-oriented and forward-looking financial roadmap anchored on three core pillars—last mile delivery, inclusive progress, and infrastructure development. The Chief Minister said the budget reflects the central government’s commitment to balanced growth and holistic development across sectors and regions, particularly the North Eastern states.

In his initial reaction to the budget presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Dr Saha highlighted that special attention has been given to ensuring that development reaches the last mile. According to him, the emphasis on inclusive progress aligns with the broader vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, ensuring that no section of society is left behind.

“To be specific, the Union Finance Minister spoke about a new Buddhist circuit for the North East, which will benefit states like Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Sikkim, Tripura and Assam,” Dr Saha said. He added that the proposed Buddhist tourism circuit is expected to significantly boost the tourism sector in the region, creating employment opportunities and strengthening local economies.

The Chief Minister noted that tourism has immense potential in Tripura and other North Eastern states, and increased footfall would have a positive ripple effect on hospitality, transport, handicrafts, and allied services. “If people visit this part of the land, it will definitely impact the economy positively,” he said.

Although Dr Saha mentioned that he was yet to go through the budget proposals in detail, he expressed satisfaction with the allocations made across key sectors such as health, education, and agriculture. He described the budget as future-ready, stating that it aims to enhance income levels and improve the quality of life for households across the country.

“Even if you look at different sectors such as health, education and agriculture, the budgetary allocations are satisfactory and forward-looking. It has been said that the budget will pave the way for an income boost for every household,” he said.

The Chief Minister also welcomed the focus on artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and new technology infusion, calling it essential for preparing India for future economic and workforce challenges. According to him, the integration of AI and advanced technology across sectors would help improve governance efficiency and productivity.

Dr Saha reiterated that the budget stands firmly on three major pillars—robust infrastructure development, inclusive growth, and effective last mile delivery of government schemes. He said these pillars collectively aim to strengthen India’s economic foundation while ensuring social equity.

“The government has announced that e-bus services will be introduced in the North East. Enough importance has been given to the empowerment of youth and women. For MSMEs also, the budget promises a lot,” the Chief Minister said, adding that such measures would support sustainable development in the region.

Earlier, in a social media post, Dr Saha praised the Union Budget for its comprehensive vision. He stated that the budget addresses a wide range of priorities—from manufacturing and world-class infrastructure to healthcare, tourism, sports, and pilgrimage destinations.

“From empowering rural heartlands to embracing cutting-edge AI, this Budget ignites the aspirations of our youth, women, and farmers in every village, town, and city,” he wrote, describing it as a blueprint for building a self-reliant and globally competitive India.

Dr Saha also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting what he termed a transformative and growth-driven budget that strengthens the foundation for long-term national development.
