Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has recorded over 11 lakh registered Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) sellers on its platform, securing orders of more than seven lakh crore rupees, as of last month. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has said that these orders accounted for more than 44 per cent of the total order value transacted through GeM, exceeding the mandated annual procurement target of 25 per cent.
GeM is a digital platform that enables MSEs, women entrepreneurs, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes businesses and startups to participate in government procurement and secure orders across sectors. The Ministry further said that more than 2 lakh Women-owned enterprises on the platform have also secured cumulative orders of over 78,000 crore rupees.
