BBM College and NIELIT Agartala have signed an MoU to promote technology-driven education, digital learning, and student skill development. The partnership aims to enhance employability, introduce advanced training modules and strengthen the academic ecosystem of BBM College.
In a significant step toward expanding technology-enabled education, Bir Bikram Memorial College (BBM College) and the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Agartala, on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly promote academic cooperation, skill development and capacity-building initiatives for students.
The MoU was formally signed by Mrinal Dasgupta, Principal-in-Charge of BBM College, and Niladri Das of NIELIT.
In her address, Dasgupta said the partnership would enhance the college’s academic ecosystem by integrating digital learning and industry-relevant training. She noted that the collaboration would help students keep pace with evolving technological trends.
Sri Niladri Das highlighted the future prospects of the initiative, describing it as a pathway to empowering students with crucial tech-based skills and improving employability.
The event, organised on the college campus, was attended by key academic figures, including Dr. Jiban Krishna Patra, Convener of the Academic Committee, and Tapanjyoti Malakar, Joint Secretary of the Teachers’ Council. Both underscored the importance of such institutional collaborations in today’s rapidly changing educational environment.
Several senior faculty members—among them Smt. Sanhita Dasgupta, Dr. Sanjoy Chakraborty, Dr. Manidipa Roy, Dr. Arijit Das, Dr. Kartik Lal Bhowmik, Shayni Debbarma, Raj Laxmi Chakma, Sri Rajesh Kumar Das and Joydeep Saha—were also present. NIELIT was represented by Sumit Bhattacharya.
The programme began with a Welcome Address by Dr. Basudeb Bhattacharya, Coordinator of the Placement Cell, who outlined the objectives of the partnership. A Vote of Thanks by Dr. Tapas Kumar Sethy, Head of the Department of Commerce, brought the event to a close.
More than 200 students attended the ceremony, reflecting strong interest in new learning and skill-enhancement opportunities. The event was anchored by Ratna Chakma and Akash Debnath, both 5th-semester students of the Commerce Department.

The MoU marks a milestone for BBM College as it opens doors to innovative training modules, technology-backed learning platforms and hands-on skill development programmes through its collaboration with NIELIT.
