The Tripura State AIDS Control Society (TSACS) has been adjudged the Best Performing State in the country during the national-level review meeting organised by the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The honour was conferred at a central event held in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, on November 12, 2025. Senior Ministry official Dr. Chinmoyee Das presented the award to two officials representing the Tripura State AIDS Control Society.
Tripura earned this distinction for its outstanding performance across multiple indicators framed by the Ministry, including ensuring comprehensive treatment for all HIV-positive patients through Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) Centres, facilitating their reintegration into normal, healthy lives, and linking them with various social pension and welfare schemes run by the State Government.
According to NACO’s performance indicators, Tripura has been placed in the ‘Green Zone’—the highest category—reflecting the State’s effective implementation of the National AIDS Control Programme (NACP).
The national evaluation is based on 10 key parameters, which include the linkage between Integrated Counselling and Testing Centres (ICTCs) and ART Centres, initiation and adherence to ART among HIV-positive individuals, and consistent follow-up of patients.
