Amra Bangali submitted a seven-point public interest memorandum to the Tripura Chief Minister via the Dhalai District Magistrate, demanding justice, compensation, and stronger security measures following the recent Santirbazar violence that affected local traders and residents.

The Amra Bangali party, through its Dhalai District Committee, on Tuesday submitted a seven-point public interest memorandum to the Chief Minister of Tripura via the Dhalai District Magistrate, demanding urgent action to address key issues arising from the recent Santirbazar unrest. The party stated that the memorandum was driven by the need to protect the rights and welfare of the local citizens, particularly traders and residents who suffered due to the October 23 violence.

The delegation highlighted that the violent incidents in Santirbazar took place during a 24-hour Tripura bandh reportedly called by certain civil society groups. The party strongly condemned the attacks on local businessmen, administrative officials, and ordinary residents during the bandh, urging the state government to identify and punish all those involved in the violence.

Demands for Relief, Compensation, and Justice

Among its key demands, Amra Bangali urged the Tripura government to bear the full medical expenses of those injured in the violence. The memorandum also called for financial compensation to traders and shop owners whose properties were damaged during the clashes. The party proposed a compensation of ₹40 lakh for severely affected victims and ₹10 lakh for those with partial losses, based on official assessment and verification by government authorities.

The memorandum further demanded that the state government ensure justice by conducting an impartial inquiry into the incident and taking strict action against individuals responsible for inciting or participating in the attacks. Amra Bangali asserted that such accountability was essential to restore the faith of the people in the rule of law and to prevent future disturbances.

Call for Enhanced Security and Development

To ensure long-term peace and stability in the affected region, the party proposed the establishment of a permanent police picket or Tripura State Rifles (TSR) camp near the Santirbazar market area. According to Amra Bangali, a constant security presence would deter anti-social activities and reassure local traders and residents of their safety.

The delegation also demanded an immediate halt to the issuance of new licenses for alcohol and drug-related businesses in the Santirbazar and surrounding areas. They alleged that such businesses were contributing to the social degradation and instability of the locality. The party called on the government to identify, arrest, and prosecute individuals involved in illegal alcohol or drug trade under existing laws.

Focus on Employment and Social Harmony

Beyond immediate relief and security measures, Amra Bangali’s memorandum included long-term development proposals. It urged the Tripura government to implement block-level development planning to guarantee 100 percent employment for local residents. The party suggested that such initiatives would strengthen the local economy, reduce youth unemployment, and curb the rise of unrest and anti-social tendencies.

In addition, the memorandum emphasized the importance of ending historical distortions and divisive propaganda that have fueled misunderstanding among communities. The party called for initiatives to promote communal harmony, cultural respect, and unity across all sections of society.

Amra Bangali representatives stressed that restoring harmony and ensuring justice for the Santirbazar victims were vital steps toward preserving Tripura’s long-standing tradition of peace and coexistence.

Amra Bangali’s On-Ground Engagement

Following the submission of the memorandum, party representatives visited Santirbazar to meet with affected traders and residents. They listened to grievances, documented damages, and assured those affected of their continued support. The delegation reiterated that the day’s memorandum was a reflection of the party’s firm stand on protecting the interests of common citizens and ensuring that the victims of the Santirbazar violence receive justice and fair compensation.

The party concluded by appealing to the Chief Minister to take decisive and time-bound action on their seven-point demand list. They warned that continued neglect of the affected communities could lead to deeper resentment and instability, undermining public confidence in governance and law enforcement.
