Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha chaired the Mata Tripurasundari Temple Trust meeting in Udaipur, emphasizing development, better facilities for devotees, and preparations for Diwali. The temple gained national attention after PM Modi’s recent visit and redevelopment inauguration.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha chaired the seventh meeting of the Mata Tripurasundari Temple Trust at the Gomati District Magistrate’s conference hall on Wednesday, emphasizing the holistic development of the sacred shrine and better amenities for devotees. The meeting, attended by top government officials and trust members, focused on taking collective decisions to strengthen the temple’s divine mission and expand its reach among pilgrims and tourists.
Dr. Saha, who serves as the Chairman of the Trust, said that the administration remains deeply committed to improving infrastructure and spiritual services at Mata Tripurasundari Temple, popularly known as Matabari. “The temple is not only a center of faith for millions but also a symbol of Tripura’s cultural and spiritual heritage. Our responsibility is to ensure that devotees experience comfort, safety, and divine satisfaction when they visit Matabari,” he said during the meeting.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the ongoing development works in and around the temple area. Special attention was given to cleanliness, crowd management, illumination, parking facilities, and accommodation for visiting pilgrims. Dr. Saha directed officials to ensure that all facilities remain functional throughout the year, especially during major festivals when the temple sees a surge in visitors.
Focus on Upcoming Diwali Celebration
One of the major discussion points of the meeting was the preparation for the upcoming Diwali festival, which attracts thousands of devotees to Matabari every year. The Chief Minister instructed departments to coordinate closely to ensure smooth arrangements for lighting, security, food distribution, and medical support during the festivities.
He emphasized maintaining strict safety protocols and crowd control measures to ensure that the sacred celebrations proceed without any inconvenience to devotees. The temple trust also decided to introduce new initiatives to enhance the spiritual experience for visitors, including improved information services and digital facilities for remote devotees.
Participation of Senior Officials
The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Gomati Zilla Sabhadhipati Debal Debroy, MLAs Abhishek Debroy and Jitendra Majumder, Udaipur Municipal Council Chairperson Shital Chandra Majumder, Revenue Secretary Brijesh Pandey, Tourism Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma, Additional DM Jayanta Chakraborty, and SP Gomati Dr. Kiran Kumar among others.
Each department shared its progress reports and future action plans for the temple’s development. The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction with the collaborative approach among officials and urged them to maintain coordination to sustain the temple’s reputation as one of the most revered Shakti Peeths in India.
National Attention After PM Modi’s Visit
The meeting also reflected on the significant boost in Matabari’s prominence following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the sacred Tripurasundari Temple on September 22. During his visit, the Prime Minister offered prayers and inaugurated the redeveloped temple premises, marking a historic moment for Tripura.

Since then, the temple has witnessed an impressive rise in footfall, not only from across India but also from international tourists and spiritual seekers. The redevelopment has placed Mata Tripurasundari Temple on the national and global tourism map, highlighting Tripura’s rich religious and cultural heritage.
Dr. Saha acknowledged the Prime Minister’s contribution to enhancing the temple’s visibility and said that the state government will continue to build on this momentum by promoting Matabari as a key destination for religious tourism. He added that improving connectivity, infrastructure, and accommodation around the temple would remain top priorities in the coming months.
A Vision for Spiritual and Cultural Growth
The Chief Minister concluded the meeting by reaffirming the government’s vision of transforming the Matabari temple complex into a spiritual hub that blends tradition with modern amenities. He said that the temple’s divine essence should be preserved while ensuring comfort and convenience for devotees.
