Benchmark domestic equity indices today ended with marginal losses. Sensex at BSE and Nifty-50 at NSE, both fell snapping their previous week’s winning streak. The Sensex lost 119 points or 0.15 per cent to close at 81 thousand and 786 while Nifty declined 45 points, or 0.18 per cent to settle at 25 thousand 69.
In the Sensex pack, 20 out of 30 companies logged losses. Among the top laggards, Mahindra and Mahindra fell nearly 1.7 per cent, Asian Paints dipped over 1.6 per cent and Infosys dropped over 1.1 per cent. Among the top gainers, Bajaj Finance gained around 0.7 percent, Eternal rose around 0.6 per cent and Ultratech Cement added nearly half a per cent.
In Sectoral indices at the BSE, 14 out of 21 sectors logged gains. Realty surged around two and half a per cent, Industrials rose over 0.6 per cent and Telecommunication as well as Power, both added over half a percent each. Among the top laggards, Focused IT dipped over 0.6 per cent, IT lost 0.6 per cent and Consumer Durables ended half a per cent down.
The overall market breadth at the BSE was positive as shares of 2,209 companies advanced, and shares of 2,008 companies declined, while shares of 172 companies remained unchanged.
