External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar is holding talks with German Foreign Minister Johann David Wadephul in New Delhi today. Mr Wadephul arrived in the national capital last night following his engagement in Bengaluru as part of his two-day official visit to India.
In his opening remarks, Dr Jaishankar sought German support to deepen India’s relationship with the European Union and expedite the Free Trade Agreement negotiations. Dr Jaishankar said he is looking forward to an in-depth discussion on various dimensions of bilateral cooperation between the two countries. He said India and Germany are marking 25 years of strategic partnership, 50 years of scientific cooperation, and almost 60 years of cultural agreements.
